Sorry to get you all excited, but it seems that it's just another bug fix patch....
"March 9, 2005 : Patch on Thursday !
Tomorrow, the patch 53 will be applied to the live servers. This is mainly a bug fixing patch. As a result, all servers will be down tomorrow afternoon, between 2 pm and 5 pm (Paris time, GMT+1). "

A specific "events" channel has been created, that will help players to follow the story.
Have you seen this in action, Raynes? Its it global to all 4 civs? Can players chat on it?

Is there a direct correlation between a lack of content and a lack of people testing new content on ATS?

It looks like a pretty good patch.
I wish people would stop being so pessimistic and just hang in there. Take a month or two off, if you're tired of the game, and see what happens. I still think this game has a lot of potential and things seem to be moving in the right direction.
To those clamouring for more content, well... I think it's important that the bugs be fixed first (and it seems that is happening). Adding more content to a game with bugs is a little like adding an extra storey to an unstable building.. it's only going to cause more problems further down the line.
I'm sure Nevrax are as keen as anyone to see this game flourish, and (maybe once new content
is implemented) they'll do what they can to get more players in and rejuvenate the servers.
