Altering the config file of Ryzom

Yes, if you look for it, you can find it. It seems editing the zoom function is one of the favourites. But, have you ever been told that it is ILLEGAL?

http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11887

I've said it before, and many people give arguments like "if they didn't want us to change it, they would not put it in an editable text file, they would make it encrypted" and all sorts of other things.
Well, it seems that it is not at all appreciated, and doing it can only make things more difficult for you. Still, I think some people were not aware of this and have altered their config file and maybe regret it now.
Well, just to make it clear to all players I post this now. If you read the EULA carefully you probably already suspected this, but on the other hand, I can reckon not everyone has read the EULA carefully...enough...
Play the game as it is intended! Winners don't use notepad!

Have fun and see you all on Atys :)

After many years of playing games with inverted-mouse-control i was pretty surprised Saga of Ryzom would not provide this very elemental option. Is is however accessable through editing the config file ( not bugfree yet though ).

I am unable to adapt to the "normal" control and get a headache from trying. I would have left Ryzom months ago without this option.

While the EULA might mark editing the config file illegal, i strongly assume there will be no punishment from nevrax side, assuming the intentions of the editing is non-malicious. Common sense rules the day.

Hmm yes Vivy, I can imagine this isn't something malicious, but..
Have suggested this in a ticket? Have you spoken with a GM about it before doing it? Did you simply do it by yourself?
Are these things considered as 'hacking' aswell by Nevrax? I know you have posted this as feedback in this thread:

I'm no jurist, but I can imagine that even if it isn't mailicous, doing it on your own without explicit permission might not be so well either.
