Task not going away

Hi there,
The first task you receive on Newbie Island has not dissapeared from my Tasks list and I don't have the option to Abandon it.
The last thing it says is to join the mainland to continue your adventures and in the specific to do it says to talk to the woman who gave me the mission on newbie island...
I did not do that and opted to go to the mainland and so now I can't get rid of it.
Is there a way this can be fixed? It's extremely annoying having it there.
