Ryzom

Hi all,

I'm 2 weeks into the game and enjoying myself immensely. Helps to have a great guild to play with

I just have a few questions about the lore I was hoping some people could answer as digging through all the stuff on the website didn't really help much and understanding the details in the story always adds to my enjoyment...

1.) Is the woman on the box cover and logo Jenna? She's all over the place(advertising), even the login screen so I thought she might be some important character.

2.) Is Ryzom the sword? And what's the deal with the sword - Have they explained anything about it? I believe that's a Kizoar in the amber, I could be wrong though. Also that thing in the amber is the Zorai logo in the manual... what does that mean?

3.) Is the goo being spread by the Karavan? Are there hints as to if it's natural or artificial?

4.) If the Karavan wear anti-sap suits does that mean they oppose magic? Is sap explained at all in this game? Why does it give magic powers and how does it regenerate?

I think that's all I got for now. Any info would be much appreciated.

4) There's nothing in the lore to indicate that the Karavan oppose magic. The mechanics of magic on Atys haven't been explained.

1.) The popular opinion says that she is.

2.) Ryzom is another word for roots afaik.

3.) The Karavan are merely helping it spread and also help tribes using it, were it comes from is unknown.

4.) The Karavan are technocrats. As Atys is one huge tree it is quite secure to assume that the sap is just that, sap from that tree, albeit with special properties. This would also explain how the tree got this big and why it is associated with magic.

<- listen to this guy It has never been confirmed or denied, but ever since beta it has been popularly assumed that since she isn't a homin and not a kami, she "must" be Jena.

In a devchat they explain the following:

"Nevrax" Is the name for a part of the brain apparently (O_o ?)
"Ryzom" can also be pronounced "Rhizome" which is defined here as "A horizontal, usually underground stem that often sends out roots and shoots from its nodes. Also called rootstalk, rootstock."

The Goo is diseased sap; how it got that was is anybody's guess.

I'd also just like to add that since the game has launched the only thing we really have learned is that the Kitin like to invade. Then agian we already knew that.

The Karavan are officially against the goo. The Kami claim that they help it spread. The truth is anyone's guess.

Ryzoms are root like filaments that some plants have. The giant root/branch things that are overhead everywhere are most likely the ryzomes of the planet itself.

The rhizome is also used to represent a style of branching narrative in interactive fiction - given events so far it seems unlikely this is the intended use, but it's possible.
