Hi guys,

This will end up being a short thread but I need your feedback. We are trying to understand just what sort of background information you'd like from us. Keep in mind that we can't tell everything about the history of Atys, but what sort of background information would you like to see? Plese keep this thread on-topic.

I think the suggestions in the first two posts are a great starting point. I'd like to add a suggestion that whatever history is provided to us be provided through gameplay and not just a post on the forums or website.

I think it's important to integrate the discovery of our history into actual gameplay elements (encyclopedia, etc.). As I think most know, it's only a subset of the playerbase that visits the forums and website. If the history and lore is limited to these areas, you miss a great deal of the playerbase.

Sorry if I stretched the limits of "on-topic" but I felt it relevant to the thread.

I agree. It should be integrated into gameplay.

Type of History

One the is parallel to the begining of the release of the game, basically, the history or storyline should work in a flow similar to a book.

When you provide us history of Atys, we need to see the results of that history in the lands today, this way we can understand that the altar with runes near the green seed camp has a real meaning, and we can research that meaning "somehow"

I would like a history that has a begining, a flow, some base to it, that flows smoothly into todays game that we are playing, purpose behind things like the ruins, some way to find out about those ruins.

There also needs flow for the Kami and Karavan races, more details on them, specifically things like why the Karavan wear breathing apatures (masks with filters), is the atmosphere bad for them?

The ships appear to be transports, there is no karavan flying machines that actually fly.

Notice that the Kami have no phyisical machines, only biological ones, similar to a few races on babylon 5, where the vessels are alive.

Lots technologies are talked about, but there are not details on them, as a list of what was lost for instance.

We have energy portals to get from location to location, but no one knows how there powered, some history as to there creation and there power source.

As a player, I want the game to be more like a book, where were in chapter 100 and writing the new pages.

Then I want the new pages to be written somewhere, somehow so that others can read the history, and see where we took over, and where it is now.

There have been events since the release of the game, that should have or would have inevitably altared the current history writings, so that when a new player joins the game, they have new history added, new pages, and they can add to it by there actions, not daily grinds, not daily killing creatures, but as events unfold, they are added to the history of Atys, even player names in the history to give it some real depth.

This is the attraction for ryzom, not the killing of creatures, not the "epic repetative battles", not the crafting or harvesting, not even the hikes to get players spawn points.

Instead its the result of events and the players interactions, including a wall of players names that made the event what it was, this is what ryzom is.

This is the history I want and crave.

I'd like to see more about the people. My favorite sections so far are the new sections on the leaders. I want to know more about the historical figures.

I also want to see much more personality in the Kami and Karavan. What I would really like is to interact with them, but since we can't do that something to show who they are would be nice, rather than just their doctrines.
