Qs from a Noob

Post by milesb »

I've been playing about 12 days now as a Tryker, been on the mainland since last saturday and have a few short questions. I tried searching for the info here but could not find the answers I was looking for.

1. Teleport tickets. I know how to buy them, and to activate one you 'use' it, but are they one use or can they be used multiple times? Is there a maximum range for teleporting or can one teleport from anywhere on the world? I haven't used mine, just in case it is a single use ticket. As a Tryker with negative Kami fame, can I use Kami teleportation?

2. Kipee used to scare me greatly (mainly by their appearance and their roars), but by accident I learned they were not aggressive. I had thought kipee were Kitin and all kitin were aggressive to all homins. Are all kipees this way or is it trial by error as I go along?

3. When harvesting with a pick, use prospection and I am successful (get exp), my focus jumps up to about where it was when I started the extraction. Is this normal or am I bugged? When I extract from a natural appearing source, my focus does not jump back up.
(btw, thanks for the harvesting guides Doubletap. They are very helpfull.)

4. I had read somewhere that in the lakelands, the main area (Liberty Lake areas) had harvested mats only up to q50. The outlying areas were of different difficulities but I did not remember the order and can not find that original posting. I'm not hitting 50s yet but expect to be soon looking for them. Could someone post the order and ranges for those areas?

5. For crafting medium and high quality stanzas, are these given by the trainers or do they need to be earned on a quest/mission? I tried looking in the action progression stanzas but could not find them. Also searches on the forums were not sucessfull for the info I wanted.

6. Using /who, does that list everyone in the shard or only people in the current land?

7. What is the Nexus?

8. Can mounts also carry items like packers?

I've been playing on the trial account, I think I will making it an active account and staying around for a while. So far I have met a few nice and helpful homins in game, but I did not want to spam the chat with my questions. At the time of this posting, my character's skills are mostly in the 25 to 40 range.

Thanks in advance for any answers or advice.

Welcome!

Teleport tickets are single use so make sure and always buy a new one when you arrive after using it. You can use them from anywhere in the world so once you walk to a new region or land, you can buy a teleport ticket and jump right back there next time.

Kipee are non-aggro except for some special ones that show up during events (usually names "Reaper Kipee" or "Raider Kipee" or something).
milesb wrote:3. When harvesting with a pick, use prospection and I am successful (get exp), my focus jumps up to about where it was when I started the extraction. Is this normal or am I bugged? When I extract from a natural appearing source, my focus does not jump back up.

This is how it works for everyone. I'm not sure whether your focus not recovering when harvesting a natural source is a bug or not but it happens this way for everyone. You'll want to prospect your own sources anyway. In addition to recovering your focus, you'll also be able to add extraction time, grade, quality, range, and angle bonuses to your prospection.

Winds of Muse = 100, Fount = 150, Bounty Beaches = 200, Enchanted Isle = 200, and Lagoons of Loria = 250.

Medium and High quality patters are at the trainers when you reach a sufficient level in that crafting skill. It's been a while so I'm not sure but I think the medium quality patterns are available at craft level 50. I'm not sure when the high quality patterns become available but it's just based on level, they're not from special quests.
milesb wrote:6. Using /who, does that list everyone in the shard or only people in the current land?
It's only people in your current region. So if you're in Liberty Lake, you only see who is in Liberty Lake as well. You can't see everyone in the Land.
milesb wrote:7. What is the Nexus?
It's another land between the 4 main racial lands. It can only be accessed by travelling through the prime root lands. If the question is about what the Nexus is in terms of storyline, I'm not sure.
milesb wrote:8. Can mounts also carry items like packers?
Yes, but they only have 100 bulk which is generally taken up by food.

1. One time use; unlimited range, thus far you can use them whether you are Kami or Karavan (didnt check on +/- 100 fame though)

2. Kipees are kitins ( i think) and probably the only ones that are non-agro. They are social, however, hit one and the rest of them will come if close enough.

3. Prospect, then harvest the source, then you get XP, your focus is restored to the point where it was before EXTRACTION started.

4. Hopefully tryker will respond.

5. High / Medium quality items are available to buy from a trainer at levels 100 and 150. Some generic stanzas are given out through rites (i.e. an item that does not have race dependant mats)

6. Using /who lists everyone within region you are in (a region could be a guild hall, captians quarters or anything on a map identified by dotted boundaries.

7. Nexus is a central land mass - quality 200 mats a ton of aggro and forest foraging requirements.

8. Yes, mounts can hold rather little - but it helps. Remember, if you use it to carry stuff, you need space for food as well, hence, effectively it can only carry one stack of mats and one stack of food)

keep spamming questions - everyone else do , and their statements are mostly far less interesting then this :)

You can port from anywhere, no distance limitation. They are single use and are destroyed once you arrive at the TP.

Kizoar, Kipee and Kiban are NON aggro. Kincher, Kidiniak, Kinrey, Kipesta, Kipucka, and Kirosta ARE AGGRO.

This is normal behavior for focus...it "snaps back" to where it was when you started extraging on your own sources. Natural and non-team members sources will not give you focus back.

There is a thread on the board for this...i'm a Forest harvester so I can't help you here, sorry :(

The higher quality crafted item plans are learned at the trainers (there are exceptions with some item plans are given as a reward for ritual missions). Medium quality (MQ) plans are available at lvl 50 crafting and high quality (HQ) plans are at lvl 150. You also get the race specific weapon plans at 150 (living weapons for Matis, burning for Fyros, waving for Tryker, and electric for Zorai although not all race specific plans are implemented yet IIRC)
milesb wrote:6. Using /who, does that list everyone in the shard or only people in the current land?
/who will show you players in your region only. E.g. in Verdant Heights-Matis, doing a /who while standing in Yrkanis will show you all players in Magestic Garden region. Move South and you can see all players in Fleeting Garden, etc.
milesb wrote:7. What is the Nexus?
Nexus Minor is a lvl 200 zone. It is also open PvP and the only location for Supreme mats other than Prime Roots. The mats there are Q200 forest.
milesb wrote:8. Can mounts also carry items like packers?
Mounts have a 100 bulk capacity versus a 500 bulk capacity for a packer.

Actually, I think you do get your focus back from "non-team member sources". I believe only natural sources keep you from getting focus back, for some unknown reason.

Also, I agree with your surprise about some of the lower level Kitin being non-agrro. Given the story line and the menacing roar they make (very annoying actually after awhile), I assumed from the start that they were aggressive, and also learned by accident that they were not. Why not all Kitin are aggressive is something I still don't understand; in my opinion, they should be.

There is an often missed passage somewhere in the game literature that describes why kipee are not aggro. The kipee are the workers of the kitin society and are completely herbivorous. This is why they are generally docile except in extreme circumstances. The same goes for kizoar.

Right you are Doc. I should have said careplanning for non-team member sources doesn't give you focus back.

caster pants are exactly the same as normal pantz, the simply look different to give that casters a more dignified look and make female clothes possible. well, since they botched the first purpose when they created the current cast animations, they're only there for women, casters who try to be traditional and the scottish.

btw, a very good way of finding out wether a mob is aggro or not is by observing it, simply wait and watch what it does when it get's hungry. it'll either attack some grass to munch on it or it'll attack another mob to munch on it's corpse ;)
