I need some advice

Post by aelvana »

Thought this would be the place to ask...

1) Post CP, I need something to do player-interaction-wise before I delete Ael out of boredom. I could try to find another guild, though without much content ... well ... what is it that the other major guilds out there are doing? Are any guilds doing anything besides grinding, harvesting, and chatting?

2) I could also play server villain. Give us all something exciting to do after all > :) Ael can go insane and stalk the roots from time to time. This IS just a game for fun, and as such, I don't really care if everyone goes nuts trying to get just me :P (reasonable responses please, freakouts over the mere mention of PvP will be ignored 8)

3) Speaking of, am I the only one on the server who would be willing to let their reputation become what it will and do number 2?

I could see it working out if as you are stalking you mutter to yourself about losing all of your guildmates("family") due to *insert opposite faction here* and how you are gonna get those that did it, only you are too insane to clearly distinguish who is "guilty".

If I were to play that role...I would allow for the player to "opt out" of the battle by their action of not defending themselves, and I wouldn't start out with my highest attack as the first attack. (I know, a tad out of character, but...it would avoid upsetting someone that is new to the game, or hasn't heard of your distress/role.)

Plus...being a bit of an optimist...I would allow for the chance of someone finding a way to console you. To me, I want to believe that every villian has a bit of the hero inside, just never had anyone to nurse that hero into life. If that "nurse" is found, the hero will defeat the villian from the inside out.

In other words :D (I have to get my latin dictionary sometimes to understand what Ifritan says). Shadowclan is a Kami based fyros guild, with whom I've had (me personally) some healthy RPG and a bit of "for fun-PvP". They have stated to be against-Karavan, they chase me down in Umbra, and we have some "thy-thees" in region ("Non Atys Dragoons are safe, Dragoons quit Umbra ipso facto, were albus is hiding?")

As long as it remains IG, it is true that it adds some "spice" and fun to my harvesting, at least for now.. Maybe later, if everytime I go to roots I have a whole guild chsing me down, will be less fun, we'll see.

On the other hand, I agree with lyrah's post. You are welcome to play the villain role, just be ready "to take the heat" (which I guess you are) of some players, and, as stated in some posts, playing villain to the extreme is clearly against the CoC. In the French server, there used to be a good, well organized, RP-guild -"Cercle the Sokkarie" you can still find their web iirc- but they had to go through dozens of flamings, personal attacks etc.

Best regards,
A.

No one can stop you from killing anyone in the prime roots/nexus. The game design allows it, and the game rules of conduct allow it. The only things that could possibly keep you from killing any other player in the prime roots are:

1) Your own scruples. But, if you don't have any problem killing players that aren't attacking you, this won't get in your way.

2) Your guild rules. Simple solution to that is join a guild that doesn't have a problem with you killing anyone you feel ilke, anywhere the game rules allow it.

3) Your own fear of ostracism and even retailiation by some or even most of the playerbase. You can't control or predict how we as a group will react to what you are doing, but you can build a small group of friends and allies over time and stick with them. This will help you alot when you start getting upset or discouraged because some (maybe many) guilds or individuals may not help you or speak with you at all because they disapprove of your conduct in the PvP areas.

Speaking for myself, if someone declares war on me or mine by active aggression, I will not come to the aid of my enemy in any area or region of the world, and I will to the best of my ability support your enemies and antagonists. That's part of what comes with the territory when you play the "villian" or pick sides and start attacking non-combatants. Helping an enemy avoid getting a death penalty, helping them level up so they are more deadly in the pvp areas, trading them equipment that will be used against my friends, doesn't strike me as an effective or winning military strategy.

That does not mean you cannot or should not get together with like minded players and fill such a role, if it makes you happy. I imagine that if you stick to strictly killing one faction or another, i.e. kami or karavan, then the more dedicated and militant roleplaying pvp groups will support you in and out of the pvp areas.

That means even if most of the player base does stop speaking to you, rezzing you, teaming with you and trading with you, there will still be a core group of close allies and friends you can rely on. Build your relationships with that core group, support each other, and you may find that the other more casual friendships and support systems in the community pale in comparison to such an alliance.

I don't know about stalking the roots, but we need villains desperately. Even folks like Raynes aren't really villains so much as fanatics. DT has done some good but he's not heavy into RP. I don't want Sai to be a villain, and they're very hard for me to play. But we need more antagonists that aren't just "from the other side."

Lately I have been busy grinding, but I'm usually up for events and things.

Ya mean a villain that would haet both Karavan and Kami? lol

@Ael. #2 seems like lots of fun. x.X; I'd do the same, but it'd be hard...I'd be worried if whoever I'm killing would know I'm rping ><;

do whatever you want... stop looking for the approval of others and think for yourself for a change.

You certainly aren't the only one who doesn't care what their reputation becomes.
