Quick Question about skill packs

So I'm kind of confused here with the char creation in Ryzom and was hoping someone could clear it up for me.
Example...
I start a char with three fighting skill packs, but decide later that I want him to do some crafting. Now, since I don't have the crafting action because I went straight combat at creation, is there anyway I can add that into the mix?
The whole system is still sinking into my head, it's appreciated.

Hello,
You'll have the option to purchase crafting at a later time using Fight skill points. However, I'd recommend you take one package of Magic, Harvest, and Craft, just so you have the option to pick those up and use them as you like. Fight is basically free; even without taking the package, you can still use it successfully. The others, however, all require a buy-in that's quite expensive (skill point wise) at low level.

I have a quick follow-up question to this.
Do you get anything extra as a fighter it you go fighter/fighter/fighter?

You get extra skills and I think you get both a sword and a dagger instead of just the dagger.
One note about taking 1 magic pack - until they change it you get the heal other spell and acid still costs 50 as a starting skill credit with or without taking a magic pack. So unless you actually find someone to group & heal in the noob islands....

Thank you!
Keeping on topic, sort of, Is it advantageous to pickup a pack like harvest or craft and exp a few levels for the Dex and Metobolism stat increases or if I plan on being a full fledged fighter is it better to 3pack fighter?
Is there a website that answers all these kind of questions?
I have a lot of MMORPG experience, but I know so little of character creation and growth on this game.

I picked up the acid pack initially and have slowly working my way up the Magic path, as a fighter, by opening up an attack with an attack spell.
It's useful for pulling mobs.

I think it all comes down to personal tastes. I"ve tried three packing a fighter but came away feeling like less of a character. The manual said that the packs just determine what equipment you have when you start, but its a little deeper than that since they also affect the skills you have at creation. Three packing a fighter is good only on the basis of getting the extra equipment, the extra skills you get are pretty...bleh. Plus it takes maybe 5 minutes to work off the cheddar to buy a sword, why waste a skill pack on it?

Thanks for all the help. I have so much to learn, but I am enjoying myself in the process.

A tip for someone who is only interested in Fighting and doesn't plan to pursue Magic, Crafting or Harvesting - start off Craft/Craft/Craft. Fighting is easy to advance in and there really is no reason to choose Fighting packs to start. But if you start with Craft/Craft/Craft you will get 200 free generic materials and a few free crafting plans (boots/dagger). All you would need to do then is spend a half hour or so making boots to (a) pick up some extra money after selling them (look for the trader NPC who wants to buy them for the best price), (b) gain some easy skill points in Crafting that can be used for skills that help Fighting (like Con and Metabolism) and (c) let you make your own weapon (dagger) to start you off. A further bonus would be if you could pick up a boots or dagger task from one of the apprentices to get even more money. An easy way to get started (with some cash in your pocket and some additional hit points/life regeneration) and who knows you may even decide you like to craft.

i agree 100%. so you dn't get the 2 extra skills or the sword. but you do get about 55 pts of extra skills w/ the 3 craft pkg. i think it's only 30 worth of skills with the 3 fight pkg. not really worth it.(sorry but don't know the exact numbers).
plus all the "free cash" you get from crafting. and if you choose not to go crafting, you can spend 50 pts on magic if you'd like and quit adv in crafting, though i'd go up a bit more just to get the stat bonuses.
