Since no one reads the Technical forums...

Ok Brithlem discovered this. Someone else tried. it. I'm about to log on but I thought I'd catch you guys in case you left work or whatever. Apparently when he changed his mouse from the yellow fat mouse cursor to the microsoft mouse his computer perofmance did wonders. Bri has a slower computer and other people are saying that the microsoft mouse merely works a little faster and a bit smoother.

Bri's crappy computer takes forever to spawn, so he runs on low graphics. He's able to run a higher performance graphics setting with this change!

So if you have a slow computer...I thought I might let you guys know to try this out. We should problably all do it since targeting is bad enough as it is. A smoother mouse may not be the solution but it's a dern site better.

some technical information: ryzom runs at a max fps of 40 frames per second
the windows cursor runs at exactly the refresh rate of your monitor, which is at least 60 in any case, as such it is bound to move faster and be more responsive

why can't some people see a difference? 1. not trained for it 2. monitor issues(slow flat screen) 3. vision problems and/or wearing glasses(glasses esp. are known for making people see about 10%-20% slower than other people)

I run prefectly fine on 2 flat screens. The only catch to it, you have to use a window mode. Dont try to run full screen on two screens - that will grind your system to a halt; not to mention second screen wont be useful.

Yeah that mouse thing works good if you cp has lower spec cards for video and memory. :)

Ahh window mode that is interesting. Any idea why? I did recommend to Brithlem that he operate in window mode and I do believe he did when he made this mouse change.

Window mode may explain why I can run at 30% foliage with an ATI 9200 and only 512mb ram and be faster than everyone else! Any more and I tend to crash. Can't wait to get more memory and a card...maybe I'll win one! chances are I won't.

Window mode in itself runs MUCH faster and efficiently... but ... I was "raised" on full-screen and have yet to put in the hours in window mode to grow accustomed to it.

The mouse / game speed thing I did independantly of the window mode experiment... but combined might... almost... make my game speed comprable with some of the middle of the road PCs others run... damned 233MHZ RAM.
