Okay... first to post, here goes... *blush* *whispers "Phae made me do it!*

Yamcha was a typical little boy, he would charge about all day, saving the homins from the evil Kitin monsters with his trusty pike made of a long branch. Of course, it was just his imagination. His playground was the refugee colonies, and the troubled times of the Exodus were before he had even been born. He dreamed of the tales his parents told him of the Force of Fraternity, mighty warriors. He wanted to be a mighty warrior some day.

He often got scolded by the strange Karavan people, for straying too far from the refugee camps in his adventures, and sometimes caught a glimpse of a shadow moving in the distance, a -real- monster. But the Karavan people always kept them away. They were nice people.

Then one day everything changed, the Karavan people were taking homins from the refugee camp to a place called Matis Island. Yamcha's parents told him that he was one of the Homins who had to go there. He didn't understand, why weren't his parents coming with him?

There was another family which lived close to Yamcha's family in the refugee camps. They had a young daughter, a little younger than Yamcha was, about 8 while Yamcha was 10. Yamcha didn't like girls much, they didn't like to play war, they were silly things, icky things. But on that day that Yamcha's parents were explaining about going with the Karavan to Matis Island, the other family came over to their little home. The little girl was wide-eyed, she seemed like she didn't know what was going on either. Yamcha thought her parents looked sad for some reason...

The grown-ups talked for a while, and Yamcha sat on the floor with the little girl. She whispered to him "I'm Ailish...", and looked a little frightened. Yamcha put his hand on hers gently and said "I'm Yamcha, don't be scared."

Yamcha's parents and Ailish's parents stopped talking, and looked to the two children. Yamcha's dad's eyes were a bit red, he didn't know why. His voice sounded funny. He told Yamcha that he had to be a big boy, he had to be brave, and he had to look after Ailish on their trip.

Yamcha nodded. The two children got up, and walked with their parents to the Karavan teleporter. They waved goodbye to their parents, Yamcha took Ailish's hand, and the next thing they knew, they were under the bright sun, standing in front of a welcomer on Matis Island.

There were lots of people there, older kids in armour with REAL swords, and some with funny gloves that looked a bit like what the Karavan people wore, but not.

As the weeks passed, Yamcha and Ailish began training. They learned about the History of Atys from their teachers, and Ailish asked about magic... Yamcha didn't know much about Magic. The tutor asked Ailish to come with her, but Yamcha resisted, refusing to leave Ailish. When asked why by the puzzled tutor, he insisted, looking up at her with his brave childlike eyes "I am her protector..."

The tutors found it awkward at first, but as some of the older kids on Matis Island left with some of those Karavan people again, to some other place, some free tutors became available. The two children were taught together. Ailish was taught how to tap into the Sap, the magical lifeblood of Atys, to produce destructive spells. Yamcha was taught how to taunt an enemy, and how to parry attacks, to protect Ailish as her light caster clothing would not offer much protection against a gingo's claws.

The tutors were amazed at how the two worked together, and soon they were beyond needing the tutors. They tackled harder and harder enemies on Matis Island, always returning to their tutors for a few tips now and then.

Time travelled quickly on Matis island, and the two children became those 'older kids' they'd looked on in awe when they first arrived. As they grew older, their skills increased until they could match anything on Matis island, but as well as that, they grew closer.

One night, Yamcha dragged Ailish out to a hill on the edge of the island by Borea. She teased him, saying all the Gingos were sleeping for the night, and tickled him as usual.

Under the star-filled sky, Yamcha looked at Ailish and smiled sweetly. He just looked at her, not saying a word. Ailish looked back, and raised an eyebrow, poking Yamcha's chest softly

"What??" she asked, poking her tongue out.
"You know Ailish... I am blessed." he said, pausing a moment. Ailish pulled her tongue back in, and looked at Yamcha now, listening...

"I get to spend every day with the most beautiful girl on the isle, I know most of the other guys would do anything to be in my position..."

"Oh you're silly Yamcha..." she said, turning away a little, trying to hide a slight blush

"No, let me finish... I wanted to tell you this a long time ago, but I swore to protect you and could not risk that by pushing you away..." he said. He took her hands in his gently, and whispered "I love you Ailish... and I always will."

Ailish looked back at Yamcha, and sat up on her knees, flinging his arms around his neck where they sat, burying her face in his shoulder, hiding her joyfully tearful eyes. She said "and I love you too Yamcha... I love you more!"

She pulled from his shoulder, looking into his eyes with a beaming smile, and they kissed spontaneously, a wonderful kiss that seemed to last an age beneath those stars.

It seems a long time since that night. Yamcha and Ailish left Matis island long ago, and took to the mainland swiftly. Joining the Stormdancers Guild, led by Bael, a friend of them both from when they were on Matis island, the couple's adventures continue, taking on every new challenge that awaits them.

Most importantly though, beyond their high ranks in the Guild, beyond their prowess together on the battlefield, they share the thing most important to Homins, the thing that wars are waged so to allow its existence, the thing that the Kitin will never know.

That thing called Love.

I am Yamcha, Pikeman of the Matis, High Officer of Stormdancers, Defender and eternal lover of my dearest Ailish. Do not fight for vengeance or for blood, fight for freedom and for Love.

Even though I am on the NA server and can't enter, I still wanted to share my responce. Enjoy

My own special love
By Raynes

Matis lands in the spring time are very fine.
Not quite as fine as killing a Slavini vine.

Matis lands in the winter time are simply devine.
Though no where as refreshing as my Karavan killing time.

Tryker lands in the summer cause many to sing about the sky
I much prefer to make the Jena loving Tryker cry

Tryker lands in the fall are quite swell.
But not at pleasing as knowing the Matis will go to Kami hell.

It's the time of year where love is held dear
I think it's the time to celebrate fear

Will you choose the love that will bring you hugs?
Or will you join me and bask in the joy of killing the bugs?

For this is the poem of a Kami loving, Karavan hater.
Out to get those are are a member of the later.

Ok this isnt about romantic love, but more about the kind of love you find amongst friends, amongst people who you belong with.

The Lonely Yubo
----------------

When he was born, trix was pure white, and for a yubo that was extremely rare. All of the other other yubos were a little jealous, and they also thought he was a bit strange.

He didnt like running arround weeing on the tall people, or pulling funny faces at them. He thought it was silly. Instead he spent lots of his time alone, wandering arround the little island that the yubos called home

He watched from afar as the other yubos travelled in droves eating grass and chasing each other.

He never felt like he belonged. He was lonely.

Trix had been watching the tall people from his little bush near the edge of their strange town for quite some time now. he watched as they dug strange things up from the ground, and as they went out into the forest and hunted the evil big dog things that always tried to chase him. He watched as one by one they each walked up to the people who wore black and vanished!

Somehow trix knew that when they vanished it was their time to move on, to go to a better place.

So one day he braved the run across the grass to the people in black, stopping only once to check that no tall people were looking at him, and finaly came to stand at the feet of the lady in red who stood amongst them.

The karavan looked down upon this strange little yubo, all white, with big lonely eyes. They saw into his heart and knew what must be done. The lady smiled under her mask, knelt before trix, ruffled his fur slightly, and then touched him on the nose.

A rush of bright lights swept before trix as he was whisked away from the island, all the world swirled arround him in a mass of dazzling stars and colours. when he came to his senses he was in a different place. The grass was the same, the air aswell, except the stars he so fondly watched at night had changed, and the land around him was so much bigger.

Then he saw them.

They were all arround him, all looking at him and chattering and sniffing him and asking questions, and smiling and laughing. He knew at once where he was.

He had found his home.

So when you are wandering the lands on your adventures folks, maybe you could take time to look amongst the frippos, in their mass of white fluffy fur, for if you are very lucky, you may one day see a small white furry yubo.

Remember this story before you go hunting them and maybe it will change your mind, they are one of the few things in this harsh land that means you no harm :)

changes

when i woke up,
the first thing i would see
was the most beautiful being
smiling at me

you made each day
worth starting anew
you showed the right way
you turned my sky blue

but now that you have gone
- though noone is to blame -
the past can't be undone
atys will never be the same

i'm looking with concern
to all the stars above
waiting for you to return
my distant tryker love

note: i don't really want to participate in the contest, i just wanted to post something here :)

Okay this is a play on another well known lullaby.... you'll all recognize it most likely, the theme anyways. Even so I still came up with this on the spot..

I wish I may,
I wish I might,
Make the wish,
I wish tonight,
For my fallen Star,
To shine with light,
Above the clouds,
In the sky so bright.
I wish I may,
I wish I might,
Love the Star,
I hold so tight.

This occured just last night...

The Grove of Confusion is a terribly dangerous place, some of the most terrible and fearsome creatures of all Atys roam its claustraphobic gullys. I and my friend Chi were hunting the great jugulars, well that what we had planned. Their are tribes in the grove, people who call this place home. One such tribe are the Ancient Dryads, i know little of their history, save that they view a matis such as i with hostility.
We were a little tired as we travelled not far from their camp and as does happen we became a little seperated. I must have wandered perhaps too close as next i knew angry tribes folk decended upon me, i ran as i could but, they struck me down.
As Chi came across my fallen body, someways from the camp, she also saw one of the tribe guards standing over me, seemingly defending my dead body from the scavenging Ocyx nearby. Chi channelled celestial magics and i rose, the guard did not attack. In his face i saw a mix of emotions, a troubled look, but the homin was silent.
We moved to our destination cautiously and the guard followed, not hostile as he was but moments ago, but almost mesmerised as if a conflict of his conscience had struck him dumb, perhaps he regretted slaying me? maybe he'd seen something in my fallen form that he wished to save from further harm?
We three journeyed deeper into the grove almost to highgrove, where the great jugular roam, all the while the guard followed matching my steps, every time i looked upon him, he had a smile on his face, yet still spoke no word, dispite a few cautious questions, the look reminded me of those who had found peace with jena or of that of a young couple stood together.
He watched as i healed, yet took no actions other than to just be close to me. The jugular can be unpredictalbe sometimes, and the presence of the guard had distracted me a little. We fell to a pair of them, the last look of the guard was one of shock and horror.
i regained conscience by the kami alter in Grove, as did chi, and once more travelled to the place, paas the dryad camp with more caution. When we arrived to where we had fell, the guard was stilll there although the juglars were not. He was sat, oblivious to the world, staring at the snow where i had died. Tears had been falling from his eyes, and his face was contorted with anguish and distress. he paid no heed to us. He would not move, nor meet our gaze, or utter a word, he just wept at the ground. we were left with no choice but to leave him, on our return he was gone, we did not see him later in our travels.
The encounter with the guard made me ponder as to what had made him stand vigil and then follow me, perhaps love?
