Haven't had a chance to log on yet post patch. Anyone know the implications of this statement from the patch notes?

Is it possible that we won't rack DP from mobs that jump us and whom we don't fight?

??

"A mob from which you would have gained experience," is pretty ambiguous.

Someone can have a very high level in one skill and a low level in another. If they use one skill to kill the mob, they may not get xp while they would while using the lower skill.

So I'm wondering what the system uses to decide if you would have gotten XP. Your highest combat skill? The highest skill used in the fight? But what if you don't use any actions and are killed (afk and a pack of gingo get you, etc.)?

I think there needs to be a little more clarification.

This is bugged ATM. I had a HIGH level (175 in top melee skills, or there abouts) test this by agroing four yubos, six low end gingos, and a flock of birds at the gate, far enough from guards to die. Took a while to kill him, NONE of the mobs would have granted xp even in his lowest skill tree, and he got a DP from them.

SO...I think the way they INTEND it to work is:
You are in low level area near mobs that are, as other games call it, trivial, no xp in your melee or magic skill trees, they should NOT give a DP when you die.

Personally, it is my opinion that if it doesn't give xp, it should NOT agro, nor kill you. But then I am not coding this...am I?

I plan on posting a bug ticket on this as well.

I would assume that the code looks at this the same way it does to determine if you got xp or not. If you are running by and gain agro and die...now that is ANYONE'S guess. Not sure how that would work, I would like some clarification on that though.

It MIGHT go on your highest skill tree, which is how your dp is determined anyway. (I have died in a group where I was healing, that skill tree was level 30...at the time, I was also a level 80 something desert forager, I got the DP of a Forager NOT a mage.)

another thing but it could be hopeful thinking.

Lets say you just standing around minding your own buisness. When you see a blue dots streak by you with a chain of aggro behind them. So you get killed fast. Since you were standing there you will get no xp since you did not attempt to fight them. So hopefully since you didn't fight them you will not get Dp.

This wishful thinking on my part.

Sounds nice, but I agree, wishful thinking. The logic of the devs would be, Ok, we give you this cookie of NO train DP, and you are gonna want the milk of NO agro dp if you don't defend yourself as well.

And as much as I think either a herbavore launcher, I am partial to the idea of a Yubo launcher 2000 (free amo, just pick up a yubo and lock and load), or an inviz spell/shield. I am not sure WHY, but all of this agro, training and travel difficulties are built into the system.

It frustrates me to NO end, since this is one of the FIRST games that safe travel from point to point is almost laughable. And I tend towards the exploring style in games.

Mobs that aggro shouldn't aggro once you're a certian lvl over them period. It just annoys me to no end to have to stop and 1 hit some dinky ragus or gingo and waste that hp/sta/sap on it.

I think that the devs are a bunch of sadists :(

No, the agro thing I get, even if you could just squash it. I dont even care about the dp from these little yappers. But, if they said they wouldnt give dp then the shouldnt.

They probly just didnt impliment it right. I got dp from mobs that were way below me. I didnt but a ticket in because I wanted to see if it was just me or if I didnt get it. I do have CC and 1h that would have gotten exp from them.
