FS Lost getting out of hand

With a helpful tip from Doubletap I had this problem beat shortly after this game went live and I've not had any problem with FS Lost until recently. After patch 2.3 I receive this problem 4 to 5 times a night, where the connection will suddenly terminate resulting in having to relaunch rzyom. This doesn't affect any other services I may have running (i.e., TeamSpeak or MSN). Several times I had to reboot my computer twice in order to reestablish connection with any network activity. What changed in 2.3 and how do I go about fixing this problem?

I may have a similar problem.
My system is a ~BIT~ below spec (PIII 800MHz & Win Me but components are otherwise modern including ATi 9800 Pro and ADSL broadband ).

I ran the free trial just fine, and likewise the retail version was fine for 4 or 5 days, until Jan 25th or 26th.

Now my online time is limited from 0 to 90 minutes (sometimes when I join!), during which time total ping will (at some random point) scram to 21000 or more according to the 'connection' window. Of course, by the time that ping is reached, game is beyond unplayable, not to mention barely responsive, and it never recovers from that (or not in any time frame that I have the patience to endure - argh!).

I have been able to quit the game normally at an early sign of trouble and go play Counter-Strike with no lag, so the issue cannot be my connection.

I am not using a router, and ping was generally fine before the patch date. I use a ZoneAlarm firewall, which even recognises when the Ryzom client has been patched.

Windows ME is a problem in itself, need to kill it with FIRE

One thing I will say about Win ME. I used it all through beta 2, 3, open, focus, open and the beginning of retail without very many problems. I decided to switch to XP because everyone was always ragging on ME and I thought it was about time to switch.

On ME, using my ati 7500, I could play in OpenGL with no problem. When I switched to XP using the same card, I could no longer stay connected to the game in OpenGL for more than 5-15 minutes. Yet D3D is almost borked enough that I'd rather play in OpenGL and face the relogging.

Am almost considering reloading ME.

WinXP may be 'better' at a number of things. Mainly because its a ~native~ Windows program, not DOS-based. However, it IS still WinBlows. Every successive generation of the Windows OS is increasingly slower (all else being equal).
Don't flame yet; read that again!
(ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL)

I positively defy you to run XP on a P200MMX system.
Each new windows manifestation is more of a resource hog than the previous versions. I wonder would anyone even feel a need for a 4GHz CPU if Win95 or NT had been properly optimized. (Heck, I used Win95 with no significant probs till 2 years ago)

Here's typical MicroSloth for ya:
My system has 768Mb of RAM. I recently discovered that that large quantity of RAM was problematic because the TaskManager or Vcache (whichever) was only reading the first 6 or 7 digits of the available RAM. Use more than 512Mb and it has fits!
Oh yeah. Love that quality software testing!
