Once again ranged has been brought up on the boards. I know a lot of you guys think my suggestions are pretty far out there. So I'd like to say that this has no Nevrax sponsorship. Nor does this involve ranged bugs or unbalance. Lets just assume for a moment that ammo and damage were perfect. Lets Assume the Stanzas work fine and take just the right amount of stamina or health to use.

Rules of the contest:
Maximum two entries (suggestions) You can put them in two replies if you wish. I'd like you to mull this over.

3 sentences max

Does not have to be a combat stanza (I'll give an example), but it must somehow be applied to ranged weapons.

Combat Example: (taken from Xenofur and he can still use this one!)
Rapid fire: Duh. Low damage. Lighter ammo.

Non-combat Example: (my own but I'm not entering)
Flare: fires a flare into the air that turns night into day (harvesting purposes or just increased light) for a 10 meter radius. Increased levels increase radius and length of flare. Requires special, material heavy, ammo gained from rite with stanza.

How to win:
If I can collect at least twenty original entries I'll put together the ten best in a poll. The poll will run for three days.
If I get 10-20 entries I will post the top five and the prizes will be halved. (that way I can afford to put up something else!)
Hopefully I won't be putting up the last ten entries myself. I'd like Xenofur and Tetra to help me out with the final decisions. If they won't volunteer I'll see if anyone else wants to.

Prizes:
First Prize: 400k dapper
Second Prize: 200k
Third Prize: 100k

Please avoid any ranged arguements. This is just for fun. If one does ensue do not be discouraged! I'll skip past them and continue to tally entries to take my daps!

Entries end 1/27 and the final poll will arrive 1/30 and the scores will be tallied 2/02 between 4-6 pm pacific.

I posted these in the other ranged combat thread but I think it was lost in the midst of the bickering. We'll see if I have better luck here....

"Warning Shot" - Fires a single shot which does no damage to the mob but causes the mob to flee (basically scares off the creature with the loud bang). This would only work on a mob that's not already aggrod on you. This could be used to prevent adds or to create an opening to sneak through.

"Use Cover" - You would fire from a prone position, using ground cover to evade detection. You couldn't move but would have a chance at evading detection for those first few shots. This would let you soften up the mob before it attacks you.

Wow Both those would be awsome! Can't get to in depth with 3 sentences but I could see how it'd be tweaked or adjusted a dozen different ways! Esp warning shot! Carnis already have a similiar effect when they hit the herbis. I always wondered why clangs and bangs never scare them!

In all serious it's great to see that josephm is doing something original that will likely go over very well and shoot through the offices over at Nevrax...

After all... I mean it worked so well the last time someone did it.

Threads like these pop up every so often in the forums for MMO's. People who think it's going to be a great thing and everything will change. Newer players who still see a wall with a curtain on it, rather than a pair of feet sticking out from beneath the curtain, see them as a wonderful and exciting thing... others see them as a waste of time.

What the hey, I'll give this a go

I think they should add a skill like "Sniper Shot". It could be a special skill with a 30 minute down time for tough situations. Maybe have it do 4 times normal damage or something like that.

Another idea, maybe have like some type of "Spread" shot. I'm not very familiar with ranged weapons so I only know of autolaunchers that hit multiple targets. Why not a skill that uses more ammo and can hit mobs within a certain radius.

How about some kind of "Full auto". Waste a whole clip of ammo on a mob and do a buncha damage.

"Double Shot" skill maybe? shoot twice as much ammo and do around 2x damage.

How about a close range gun skill? Something not necessarily using ammo. Like maybe bayonet type use? "Rifle Swing" or something.

How about a "Blind Shot, or Stun Shot"

Maybe a "Charm Shot" which would make animals not aggro for a certain amount of time. Enough time so you could pass through dangerous spot

These aren't original ideas, but I'm entering them.

Tetra, this has nothing to do with Nevrax. This is my own curiousity, and something I feel gives a positive vibe! Maybe someone here will one day program their own game and can use some ideas. I dunno, it's all in fun. Gonna give it a go?

Sweet. Some nice stanzas..lots of nice stanzas, can you pick two for your choices? once jojeezy picks his two we'll be at 6 and you guys will be close to taking my money! even though you're in the contest I'll still let you help judge the final 5-10 if you want. Unless you think it's more fair for someone else to. Doesn't really matter to me since I'm judging and find these stanzas to be better than mine!

edit: just in case you guys have overlapping stanzas first come first serve on the two you pick! I'd know if they were but I'm not paying to much attention until two are picked...for contest purposes. I'll go over it all when the contest is over!
