I would try lowering your in game resolution setting. Look into your monitor's capabilities. .i.e only supports 1024x748, or refresh rate 60mhz for 1280x1024.
Somethinhg like that. I don't think it's your vid card.
Unless the game has an issue with geforce cards, but I doubt that too.

Sorry I initially only read your post to the point of standby in monitor. If you make into the game, then I don't think it's your monitor either.
While in windows, go to Ryzom in your start menu, and look at the settings under Ryzom Setup.
I don't know the capabilities of that particular geforce card, but maybe something is checked that the card doesn't support.
I have a radeon9800pro, but during long Doom3 tweaking sessions, I had all sorts of irregularities come up
