Another old timer bites the dust

Cloudwalker has finally hung up his crafting apron & pike and said goodbye to Ryzom. He has been in the game since beta stage, was one of the first on Arispotle but has taken the long walk. Why?
If you ordered a pair of shoes, opened the box to see them sitting all nice & shiny but found they had no sole (soul?) on them when you took them out, would you be happy? Even when the maker said he would sort them but didn't, would you sit patiently while he spun you excuses about the delay in getting the finished product to you, would you be happy?
Nevrax offered a shiny new game. It gave a timetable of releases & did not deliver. Not only have we paid for the game but we are paying for the time that it takes to correct the mistakes and deliver on their promises.
I love the world, the characters & the community but I hate being taken for a ride, especially at my expense. Now I am losing old friends whose loyalty has been tested to the limit.
I read about people praising the Kitin attack scenario (a beta throwback) and that the devs have since been honest about the fact that they can't get the outpost scenario working. They are still taking my money (and yours) while they struggle to keep to promises that are an implicit part of the Ryzom contract. They are now in breach of that contract.
I've kept giving it one more week, but I don't know how long that can last. I will make my point to the devs (if they ever get our messages) but on my own it means nothing.
Are you happy your shoes have no soul?
Alyssah.

My shoes have plenty of sole, otherwise I would be barefoot.

When you have first realised that the emperor doesn't have any cloth on, no gadgets or hand waveing will distract from the facts.

Cloudwalker, thanks for the good times, and may your journey forward be a pleasant one :)

And that cheeky Cloudwalker didnt say goodbye himself? How odd. I guess I had better not wait for that set of armour then.

Anyway, thanks Cloudwalker for the 400,000 you gave me once to get me going. You were Tember's father-figure for a while there. But I spit on your shallow grave for introducing me to harvesting: its so boring and yet, so good for you. Aaarrgh!

It's a shame another player has left, and especially one that has been with us for so long. I didn't know cloud myself, but I'm always sad when long-time players leave. Here's hoping he returns sometime soon, and the situation has improved enough for him to stay.

On a side note, I don't think it's 100% fair to compare the recent invasions with the Beta invasions. I've been playing on and off since Open Beta 1, and the invasions back in those days were much less organised. In fact, they were basically an extra kitin spawn near a town (Thesos is the one I remember well) that spewed out more mobs than we could handle - no missions, and no involvement for non-combat players. I don't think our recent invasion was perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it was certainly a big step forwards from the beta events :)

Cloud told me he was going awhile back, but he still hung in there waiting patiently :)
Sorry that you took the final decision Cloud, you will be remembered for your generousity, good humour and missed by all who knew you, hopefully you will come back, but if you go to WoW, make a set of armour for me....just in case :P
Cheers! :)

It's always sad to see a player going (although most players will return)
Good luck on other games you are going to play!

I think the game is more like a new pair of shoes. They're uncomfortable to begin with but the longer you wear them, the more they wear in to the point where they become your favourites!

all this talk about shoes and emperors... I like my shoes airconditioned and my emperor naked =)

Sad to see someone so old in the game go though.
*salutes Cloudwalker*
