Suggestion Concerning Mission Completion

I submitted this idea recently and the idea was well received by a GM and he suggested I post it on the forum to see how the community feels about it:

Now that the encyclopedia has been introduced, many players are enjoying trying to discover what missions are part of an entry and lead to the completion of a rite. Only a small number of the available missions lead towards the completion of an entry. Given the vast number of missions that can be undertaken it is easy to forget what missions have been completed once and which ones have never been completed. In search of these entries, a player might accept the same mission again simply because they have forgotten that they have already completed it. Unless a person compiles a list of every mission they have ever done or has an infallible memory they cannot be sure that a mission is rite related or not.
I propose a very simple solution, when a mission has been completed one time a symbol of some sort (a checked box for example) appears alongside that mission reminding the player that they have completed it in the past. They may still undertake the checked mission if they wish in order to gain fame or dapper, but at least they will not repeat in the mission in hopes that it leads to the completion of an encyclopedia entry.
Please vote on this idea and add your thoughts to the current situation of the mission lists and there relation to encyclopedia entries and rites. We have the opportunity to improve this game by making our thoughts known so please contribute :)

Isn't this done already? There is a dot at the top af the scroll icon, with different colours.
As far as I remember, the ones I have done are green.

Still a good feature to have, even though I keep extensive paper notes :)

Apart from the use in searching for entries, I'd like to see this implemented simply to give us a sense of accomplishment for finishing those missions. To see the exact same mission come back after a while as if you'd never completed it... makes completing it seem kind of futile.

Speaking of which, a random mission generator would be nice too, so that you don't get the exact same missions over and over again. But that's off-topic.

Edited-
I looked into this, and no this is not done already. There is indeed a small colored dot at the top of the scroll alongside the mission description but it has nothing to do with a quest being completed. Missions involving crafting or harvesting have a dark blue dot, missions involving reconnaissance/travel/deliveries have a green dot, missions involving obtaining animal mats or killing something have a red dot. Just to be sure I completed several missions which I was sure I had not done before and saw no change in the color of these peculiar dots on the scroll.

When I started this thread, I had a misconception that you must complete a prerequisite mission before the ritegiver will inform you of the other missions that must be taken. Apparently this will cause the ritegiver to not tell you what missions must be done, a rather insidious bug. Now, it is currently my understanding that one should first find the ritegiver who will tell you what missions need to be done for that rite if you have the appropriate fame/level. If that is the case, then my idea is not necessary as to determining which missions must be done as part of a rite, because the rite giver will tell you all. Frankly I am rather confused about the whole deal and I hope the next patch clears it up.

IF a mission is required for encyclopedia, then yes it shows up as a dot in the Ency. when you finish it...BUT...if it is not required, then you have no idea if you did it or not. Well I guess you could keep a pad of paper near the puter and write all the info down, but I prefer the idea of when you have done it before the color of the letters is different than those that you never did before, kinda like when you have been to a web site or not.
