Few Questions From a Senior Noob

So I've been playing Ryzom for a bit over a month now and can find my way around pretty well. Yet there are a few questions I need help with:

1. It is pointed out somewhere that *Skill* level is not the same as *Character* level. But where do I see my Character level? What does it do anyway? Is there such a thing in Ryzom anyway?

2. I have deleted the 'Use Item Enchantment' action because I wasn't using it. Now I would like to have it back, but it doesn't appear among my Stanzas anywhere. Is this a bug perhaps, or how do I get that action back?

3. The Foraging Missions require you to find materials that you don't normally find when looking for materials. How does one solve such a mission? How/ where do I look for those 'Mission' materials?

4. Is there a quick way to change the weapon/ tool in hand? Bringing the pointer to just the right place in the middle of a fight can be hard.

5. Not really a game question, but anyway: I intend to be a crafter. What do you think, what sort of items should I specialize in? So far I mostly concentrate on Armor, but do all other stuff as well.

Thank you all

Arrya

Not really. When someone asks about your level, you're usually bound to answer "in which skill?". Some people state their highest skill as their character level, others just spam you with their every level in every skill tree they have (like in signatures, which in itself is just funny).

Check the action progression screen (shortcut "a") and from there drag & drop the icon to your hands bar.

A mission type that people hate the most, I'd say. You solve the mission by bringing the required amount of mats at required quality (at least the wanted quality) to the mission giver and that's about it. I have no solid idea or pattern where one should go to look those kinds of mats. Live and learn. If you manage to find non-craftable mission mats during your harvestings, do mark them down if you're planning to undertake such missions later on.
4. Is there a quick way to change the weapon/ tool in hand? Bringing the pointer to just the right place in the middle of a fight can be hard.
As far as I know, no. Well, no shortcuts to place for weapons and all and no faster way than clicking couple of times your hands slots at the moment. I'd like to see this myself as well.
5. Not really a game question, but anyway: I intend to be a crafter. What do you think, what sort of items should I specialize in? So far I mostly concentrate on Armor, but do all other stuff as well.
There are no broken items ingame that would be useless to craft, so it's really up to you. At the moment, however, ranged weapons and medium armors aren't really high priority among the player base. People always need weapons and amplifiers, more than they seem to want armors for example.

Check out the database at http://ryzom.hopto.org and you will find some handy maps with just about everything you could want to know on them, including some materials locations :) It isn't a comprehensive list though, so depending on what continent you are on, it might not have anything at all for mission mats :(
