Attack after parry problems

I talked with a GM in game over the weekend about this but he was kinda vauge as to a fix for this. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issues with this overly handy skill.

When I first spent the points for attack after parry the skill worked fine, yet after about 30min I was killed and when I had respawned I noticed that all the melee skills I had put attack after parry on were all greyed out and I could not use the skills at all. I found out after some tinkering that it was in fact attack after parry that was causing the skills to be unusuable. I tried everything I could think of, changing the lvls of all the skills I had on there, even dragging the attack after parry skill from the melee tree, equipping/unequipping everything I could. Nothing has worked for me at all :( so now I have this skill sitting around collecting dust while I wait for something to come up about it.
I have tried equipping every armor type, and every weapon type, I have also upgraded attack after parry and all my other skills past what it was. I have the "difficulty bonus" on all my melee skills with that enabled so I know it's not an issue of having not enough credits, also I have toggled the parry/dodge mode button also.

Am I missing something important/obvious or is this really a bug?

I am not exactly sure what your problem is... Is the skill still greyed out even after you parry an attack?

It works fine for me. I parry an attack, then I can use the skill with the Attack After Parry stanza.

The icons will remain greyed out until you actually do 'Parry' then they should light up.

If they are not, then log off and back on to see if that fixes it, logging fixes alot of issues.

The XML for all the windows on the screen is built at the time you first load, atleast the visible ones are, then when you activate a window that you didn't have activated before, it pauses your machine for a second or two while it rebuilds the XML.

Worst case, just relog.

Attacking doesn't work, neither does logging out and back in. I parry alot and I've seen no change while I've had the skill added onto a melee action.

Both attack after parry and attack after dodge are credit bricks for adding to your stanzas.

They add a credit to any action that you create with them and are normally used to reduce the stamina cost of actions. With them you can create actions that use less stamina than your normal attack. The 'downside' is they only work when you actually parry/dodge.

The button is greyed out until, during combat, you parry/dodge an attack. At that point, for a FEW SECONDS ONLY, the button will not be greyed and you can use it for ONE attack. You can hit the button/hot key for the action and queue it up for use.

On your screen, when you dodge/parry, you will see the word dodge or parry and you will also get the message "you dodge (or parry) the xxx attack" where xxx is the name of the creature you are fighting. Your dodge/parry action will then briefly light up and you can use it. If you hit the button, you will use that action ONCE and your system window will display the message "you successfully take the opening".

Each time you dodge/parry you can use the action. Above all remember, the action is only available briefly after a dodge or parry! You need to keep an eye on what is happening and hit the button or hotkey when it lights up.

Hope this makes things clearer. :)

update on this, all of a sudden they work again. I was out with some people lvling my melee, as we were running around looking for more mobs to kill a kincher aggrod us from the other side of Atys. We all died, so we respawned and all of a sudden they work again in combat.

I'm not sure how permanent of a fix this is but it's back to working for me now.

Philu, I was curious about the exact use of the skill earlier so I asked a few members in the guild I'm in and have been using that skill for quite some time and they gave me the same info you have so kindly provided here. So with that knowledge I watched for that but there was no change, in addition I would mash the button I had tied attack after parry to and the move never went off, it just kept going with the skill I had been using.

Regardless thanks for the info
