That's not "news", Boroshi. I realize you're a respected member of the community, but I call 'em as I see 'em nonetheless. The contents of your post are the exact same thing people have been saying for the past three and a half weeks.

Actual news is telling us something we don't already know, and we already know everything you covered in that link.
I call 'em as I see 'em too. You and your post need to be taken outside to the trash. Far as I heard servers were gonna be turned off already. Saying as long as they are up and there is more than one buyer is news to me. If you have better news than this, please share. If not, [ Edited for language - Boroshi ] . Oh and what Jacko said too. Have a great day, love you all.

That's awfully mature of you... if someone doesn't toe the line and agree with your endlessly cheerful and optimistic view of Ryzom's future, it must be time to insult them. It really speaks well of your character that your only response to a bit of Devil's advocacy is to sink to a third-grade level.

I want Ryzom to survive, too. But I also want to see the law that says no one can describe the current proceedings because it's "illegal". I've never heard of such a law, at least not in the United States. As a paying (well... formerly paying) customer, I feel justified to demand to know what is going on.

They don't have to give me an answer... but I don't have to keep playing. If "***** n00bs" like me quit and start playing another game because no one tells us anything and Ryzom remains unplayable for an undetermined, extended period of time, guess what will happen?

Someone might buy the game, but it will die anyway.

More than half of my guild members (an old, established Kami guild with veteran players) have started playing other games and said they won't come back to Ryzom for a while, until they're sure it's not going to shrivel up and die on them. I have a feeling a lot of others are doing the same thing. Human beings fear and loathe uncertainty. Who wants to spend fifty hours digging, for example, if the game's going to end in two months anyway?

Better communication from the people in charge would alleviate a lot of this.

SoR is ruled by French laws, and in such cases, all have to be "secret". All the companies interested to "buy" a bankrupted company have to make their offer directly to the liquidator, secretly (just to avoid bid/outbid/overbid).

Hubologist it is French law that stops anyone giving information. We have been here before and it was the same last time too.

EDIT, Did it really take me almost 15 minutes to make breakfast before I replied? What Genia said :D

In my country, when a company goes backrupt, usually judicial secrecy is raised. Is raised to protect potential buyers, to protect the stuff and goods of the backrupted company, and to avoid speculation, or bad game between buyers.

In my knowledge, this is done in a lot of countries. I don't know about USA, but it should be a great surprise to me that they don't do the same. Is a obvious law, very reasonable.

And, describe the procedings isn't illegal, witch is illegal is say who are the buyers or, even, say that there are any buyer.

And you demand of information is unjustified, since, when the company goes backrupt, they stop to charge you for his services. They inform all they can, and, after all, when you acept the EULA of Ryzom (The older players, every time we log in), you accept the fact that ryzom rules under french law.

But, Hey!, you can try to speak with the frech ambassador in your country. Maybe he listen your complains.

Of course, if people don't come back until it's "safe", the game will never really be saved. No matter who buys it... because it takes players to keep the game alive. Then the game wouldn't have been killed by GameForge or the lack of buyers, but by the players themselves...

Money doesn't grow on trees. Who would want to buy and save a game that nobody plays ? Personnally, I don't mind digging in lag during 50 hours... especially if I do so with the last true members of the community I like in the only game I like : at least I would have enjoyed it to the very last moment. The Lag Monster doesn't scare me, he's my digging pet. :p Even lag digging is more fun than most games I tried up to now... :(

If Ryzom died it would be an infinite shame if it was because of WUSSY PLAYERS too scared of coming back ! Of course the lag doesn't make it easy... but the only thing we can do right now to save the world we love is to show we are still there and we still care. If people are crazy enough to keep playing even with the lag, it's probably because this game is worth it, don't you think ?

It worked perfectly...I get very nostalgic when it comes to Ryzom. I enjoyed every minute of play, even the 'extras'.
