I can understand Gameforges actions, I have several ventures online and when you are loosing more money than you earn you have to cut the costs no matter how much it hurts in the long run. In my case I had two web development firms last year. Paying each developers a five figure salary when all you earn monthly is a four figure capital, which is not even the fraction of pay for even one developer. Hence I reverted to a team structure with profit sharing than a corporate entity. In my first firm all of the developers quit fearing lack of projects and thus lack of pay but the second one remained intact. What happened was that our business soared and the developers on my remaining team is beyond successful. But the fact remains that my profit is close to none BUT I have no loss and could take out a successful hundred to thousand minor profit from the profit sharing agreement. The same happened with my web hosting a total crash of all my servers took a severe toll on me and hence cant afford to pay a four figure salary to all the 20 tech guys. But I was able to manage that alone still keeping the customers happy with promotional bonuses and what not.
What I am saying is that in business we are sometimes forced to make decisions what we don't want to but simply have to. Jolt was important but its much better than taking out valuable developers who work on Ryzom. What would happen if Gameforge was to take out most of the development team? if such are to happen the game's development will cease while at this situation jolt was the only entity that GF could consider to remove to cut the costs.
While it took a toll of the community the game still lives on. But yes we should have been informed earlier but that would only have stirred more protest.
Gameforge has few things under development and we will start to see the changes in the coming weeks. Lets give them a chance as we do not want gameforge too making the same mistakes as nevrax did. Lets just say that if gameforge is to end up like nevrax no others would buy out a game with such record. Phelan coming up on the IRC alone was a sign that gameforge really wants to establish trust that was forever lost with giving up jolt. I say lets accept that and see how gameforge handles the situation
