Open sourcing is not mutually exclusive to any of those three things, least of all the second and third.

I certainly am not a supporter of this Free Ryzom thing, but I respect that they do have "real" devs and talent, even if they aren't a "real" company (though only on the basis that they are raising capital in a non-standard way and they intend to "give away" their assets when they do get them). If you think that only "real" companies can achieve anything, then perhaps we should shut down governments, charities and the free software movement right now (I'm not saying that Free Ryzom is any of these things, but all are not "real" companies and seem to do fine).

i wish people would accept that they (they being a group of people trying to save ryzom in a way they think is right and working their asses off) are making a serious bid and dont deserve constant attacks and **** kicked at them by a vocal few.

I didn't go back through all the thread pages, just the last couple, but here's what google language tools makes of the french news item (unsure why but I seem to have a 50/50 chance of successfully reaching the english news page, even when the address says language=en.

"Here some news on what it occurred today.
The administrative procedures took a light delay (which had believed it), which results in to push back the final decision relating to Ryzom. We hope that this delay will be short and that we will be able to bring more infos to you tomorrow, however it may be also that we do not know anything before a few days. The decision on which will be the purchaser more adapted for Ryzom will be taken at this time.

As soon as we know some more we will keep you informed. While waiting, have fun on Atys!"

Nice example of why the google translation tool doesn't work too well :D

you may have noticed in the poll only 20 people out of 154 voted this a good idea. The vocal "few" are representative of the "many" in this case.

I look forward to the news today and hope to jena they get told "stop being so silly". They are not trying to "free" ryzom they are trying to get ryzom on the cheap so they can make a few euro's, if you believed half the crap they spout your nieve.
