Mutually exclusive = myth. Quit perpetuating it.
My own dreams include:
- Patches full of bug fixes and little improvements.
- Harder newbie island; tutorial missions that emphasize their utter non-epicness (essentially making it clear that you are just another of hundreds of refugees).
- Native antialiasing.
- A more dynamic missions system based on fluctuating needs of tribes and races, but still totally non-epic and non-backpatting with little reward.
- Encyclopedia rites fixed, not to be confused with any addition of idiotic questlike missions.
- Idiotic quest-like missions never to be added. Silan-like missions stay on Silan only.
- Improvement of Ring: better hosting; less limitations; more building options for ruins, towns, etc.; more scenery released for use.
- Hair quality improved. Specifically, there are some male-Zoraï hairstyles with nasty, odd little graphic issues.
- Animations improved. There are countless glitches and twitches in homin animations. I don't understand how they survived testing?
- Either a cooking skill tree, or exchangeable mission mats/items.
- An alternative and optional help/tooltip system, with hints about the roleplay side of things: tips about RPing a homin, IC explanations for mechanics, etc.
- People never asking for more armor or clothing options, or anything else there is more than enough of if they helped them****ingselves.

It's not a myth, 'crossing the streams' doesn't work anywhere and Ryzom was no exception. Heading OT now though.

I don't see the whole "crossing the streams" thing... There are "PvPes" From Europe AND the US, I know just as many from Europe... as from the US... and alot of them are Karas lol, some Are Kami too... So either you blame US peeps for the 'problem' on this server, Which is IMO Completly preposterous... since they were mearged already when I joined Ryzom and I saw no probs... untill after EP2 And there was PvP zones when I started...Before EP2... AND there are alot of Kami/Kara PvPers from Europe too...
Or... well I don't know what else you could think/mean, Please inform me, I am curious as too exactly where you stand...

Your not using logic, people...
Jim says its so, so therefore, it must be...
Oh and its not really OT just because we're making it clear we don't agree with you. However, it has now been done so perhaps we can agree to disagree on this particular note because whats the point.

"crossing the streams" is a reference to the film Ghostbusters and the weapons used to control the ghosts, rather than the atlantic ocean
chuckle. At least that's the way I read it - the "streams" here being PvP play and non-PvP play.
Fingers crossed for some good news in 4 days eh?
Sorry Phil, had to point that one out since it generated an out-of-context US vs. UK post - pretty sure that wasn't Jyudas' intention
(And I was polite about it, I hope?
)

grimjim wrote:A trawl through any PvP or Outpost discussion shows that there is a strong desire for alternative methods, but that's outside the scope of this sub-discussion.
I'm not here to stir the pot, really. But, if you trawl those posts you will see maniacal pro-PvP folks that still want the things that the anti-PvPers want for the most part.
The fact that the execution by Nevrax has been the way it has would suggest that the solution you are looking for would be to develop 2 different games, or at least have 2 different rule sets in place on diffrernt servers. As you yourself stated, just naming it "No PvP" or "RP" with the current ruleset would result overtime in the same mix of people you have today. It's not like you would not have to kill each other to have Outposts change hands. Heck a lot of RP folks would need that.
