yup as soon as i read lazarus's story i knew he had it wrong, that is the story you posted i thought of. novel is rock solid and stable

xeno no a good router/firewall WON'T help some of those bugs that are found in windows you have to reboot them

unfortunately i can't find the slowest window nt server reboot page, one guy had a 24 hour reboot for an exchange server

If more software supported linux I would get a DP system for gaming.
I would switch if it was viable.

(OS) Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1 (5.1 - 2600), (installed for) 120w 1d 12h 12m, (uptime) 5w 6d 21h 50m 36s, (record) 7w 1d 23h 26m 43s (set on 29.07.2004 23:04 using WinXP)
the reboots stem form the simple fact that this is a laptop and i tend to carry it around with me and abuse it as a portable mp3 player, which sometimes leaves me with a dry battery
and comps with slow reboot have only one problem: bad administration

Ya, it's 99% admin, 1% software 8) Err, maybe another way to put it would be that with the right administration/use, Windows won't become a mess/slow/etc.

I love linux, but permanently switched back to windows for one reason -- a mere two pieces of software that I used sometimes that I couldn't find any substitutes for or get to run under any kind of emulation.

Who's bright idea was it to turn this into a Linux vs. Windows thread? "My OS is like sooo much l33t3r than joors mang cuz i say so! You have no right in your preference of Operating System cause yours is WACK and most Linux Users don't have a legitamate reason to run it"

Here's a legitimate reason: because I prefer it. Plus I love the open source ideology.

Anyhow... let's not turn this into more of a pissing contest than it already is.

I'd just like to add my voice as another ryzom customer who uses Linux exclusively... it would be great to have a native client... Cedega just doesn't quite cut it. And Ryzom is a great game...
