It's over. Ragnarok leading with 23 votes ahead. And if I might add, caught up with 600 behind. Now we have to fight the RO community :(

Good luck to us all!!

We couldn't have expected the final round to be easy...

I think 1st would have been unrealistic for ryzom. The fact we're in the top 3 is that really a show of how popular ryzom is or how unpopular that site is ?

It's a combination of those two, plus the fact that any poll allowing 2+ votes per user cannot be classed as a "popularity" poll :) And no, before you all explode, I'm not calling "cheat". It's common sense - the relevance of any poll relies on the fact that the people taking part are only questioned once. If you wear a fake moustache and rejoin the end of the line, the poll does not reflect how popular the product is, it reflects how easy it is to fool people with a fake moustache :)

I'm sure that whatever publicity this gives Ryzom will be welcome, but as Final says, it is unrealistic for Ryzom to place 1st in a poll that contains a 10-million subscriber game (even if that game is repetitive and boring!) :)

But hey, second place is not that bad ! It's only a 40ish vote difference too, that could have been caught us. And... all the vote buttons are gone.

Apologies in advance but...

I think that the fact that you may vote more than once (even if it is once a day) is disappointing, so rather than "the most popular Game" or whatever, it becomes "the Game having a bunch of players willing to vote as many times as needed / as possible to bump a counter".

For curiosity, I went to check the results, and my first thought was... <Wow (no pun intended)...Amogst all the Ryzom players (active, past, potential, friends and family) there is a subset that has played enough to have an informed opinion; amongst this subset there is a subset that knows about this MMOsite award; amogst this subset there is a subset of people that did actually vote, and that subset is around 5k... is that the number of votes? So there are at least 5k Ryzom "active players" (more or less I understand one may have voted even if not actively playing)...>

Then I read the "fine print"...once a day, few basic checks...

This sounds like the TV SMS-based "vote for your favorite singer", a nice source of income, why would one limit the number of calls? ....

From our community point of view, I somehow understand that this can be justified in temrs of a "Maquiavelic-Grand-Plan-for-World-domination" or more plainly, a means of free Marketing (much needed).

Personally, for me this fails short of a blatant manipulation of numbers and statistics, as smells fishy...maybe causing a wrong impression? All in all I guess I am a bit grumpy today, I just hope no one will go around bragging about Ryzom or Whoever wins being actually the "best whatever of the year"....

Yours
