Ryzom

restarted to much already, and i know how it is to start all over... all i can say is that i had the best time on cho it was just great to start over with everyone and just being noob and run away for little ragus and gingos...

start over all craft and just lvl it in a guild or solo and then everyone has their own way to work up and being usefull

now this way just all new players can just ask skilled ppls for stuff. but on the other side it will take some time to get all the lvls back but for me ..

The fun matters more and then the levels...

PS: maybe we even have lowby pvp then

but to be a bit more seriously and look at the state of game...
how long is it ago that they just CLOSED ryzom for good, we didn't have an idea if ryzom would ever get up or not. now its getting back up and we/you want to get your chars back aswell. ok i know the feeling how it is to loose your RP char.. or the char you worked so hard on but why can't you just start over, and stick to your roleplaying. k maybe you'll to lvl up a bit to get back to your old rp style but why can't it be the same as before?
and if you were so strong in roleplaying.. havn't you said that it was the very last time to see the world and stuff? i think quite a few players deleted their chars when ryzom was going down. was it their fault that they did it? they couldn't know that it was coming back up.

i was actually thinking of a ryzom wipe and start at day 1 again but i think even i wouldn't like that at some things but on the roleplay side. its a new start of ryzom so i leave that one in the middle...

I couldn't replay Faa's student years in Pyr or her childhood in WoM anymore for sure. It's not so much about Faa, but about other living people around her. About Moyaku helping her to dig and showing "dangerous" areas, about Nakedeye making her first LA, about Trini teaching her receipes, about Rushin showing Wastelands - that's not about Faa, it's about her irreplaceable history of contacts. Faa would be a robot if she would go just mechanically born again.

But, hey a server wipe is actually a huge cataclism of Atys itself, it cannot get out of lore. And here Pero has a great point. Lore cannot be reset, would make the world meaningless. So if indeed Atys needs technically a wipe, what we need to point out is that the lore itself has to reflect this in some way. Maybe the karas and the kamis (not the karavaneers and the kamists) found out about a catastrophic space storm and retreated all their children in the safe heaven of the newbie islands untill the planet becomes again viable, or find another good episode out of this.

Ffy yes I rely on logic, but as a tool. It's also a reliable instrument because can lead you to see feelings that other people have but that cannot touch you on an emotional level. I feel - for example - a certain shade of red is aggressive, but logically I can understand somebody else likes it, it brings joy to him/her, then logics makes me to accept it, because on an emotional level I cannot see how that shade can bring joy.

Ani got this very well and explained things very good. From what I see part of us will be hurt if a wipe takes place, but as Fasi pointed out, worse than a wipe is a server down alltogether. On the contrary those who won't be hurt by a wipe won't suffer if the wipe doesn't take place. Finally once the game is again on the market probably possibly a world already inhabited by 75-100 vets might not hurt so bad, after all every newbie will have 5 dedicated vets to craft for him, trek him etc nothing new on Atys face.

But if the wipe is innevitable, on the lore side this has to be covered by story.

A wipe... frightening as it sounds wouldn't change a thing for me.
I would arrive on Atys with a cute lil Tryker girl, live in the forest, spend most of my time digging and smacking yubos. I would seek out all my old friends, take my time leveling...

What I'm trying to say is: unlike most other MMOs, here our chars aren't possessions - they are Us. Though they rarely look anything like the person behind the screen, they have taken on our very personalities. I put more thought into choosing what set of MA to wander around in than I put into dressing myself in the morning... Atys is our Home, a place where we can be whatever we want. A place where even the worst "enemies" are still friends - I hope

A wipe may destroy the old feeling of family - free gear and cats would be nonexistent, no high level players would be around to trek refugees and protect them during their first days on the mainland. But I don't care. Even if I'm the only one doing so I will continue helping everyone - however I can, hoping that my example will bring the newcomers to view Atys as we do: a place for Hominity to gather in peace and understanding - and a few good battles Not a world like others I have seen, like w0w... as well as that place called Real Life - where nothing is without a price, everyone thinking first of themselves.

This is the real value of Ryzom, as has been said before and cannot be said enough: The Community. May it be reborn from the ashes stronger than ever.

It's not that i didn't enjoy myself on Cho, I did. But, I did come back to Keiko and Aris. You were actually the main reason I stayed on Cho so long. But, my character on Cho didn't have the same back story and I had with Keiko. Hell, I can't even remember the name of the avi I made on Cho.

The fun is more important than the levels, in a way, yes. But, if there was a server wipe, my Keiko will never again be able to level up her magic to 125 with Zorin (a friend who no long players). Keiko wont be able to level her heal on Dai Den. I'll never again be able to finally have OoC trek me to Thesos to level with them. (Sekhmet used to always talk about leveling in Thesos, and I was still stuck in Verdent Heights). I wont have the same memory of having you (Fasi) help me level up my dig...well, just about all of my 250s. I wont have my karavan honor points and kami honor points anymore. All these things will be wiped from me. I'll vaguely remember them, but they wont be apart of my new character.

If a server wipe were necessary, well, who am I to complain about necessity? But you make those of us who would prefer not to have pieces of ourselves wiped away sound selfish. It's not selfish of us to want to keep what we worked for, paid for, etc.

And, I'm not a major RPer by any means, but I would find it difficult to adapt the Keiko I've built (mentally) into a world I've already played through once.

Not trying to pick apart your response sweetie, just felt I needed to respond.

For those of us whos guild didn't really stick as one after the shutdown, and have therefore fragmented across several MMOs, finding new communities there a wipe would be a disaster. When Ryzom comes back (I'm still amazed that I can really use the word 'when' in that sentence!) it will no longer be the only MMO I play. It took a long time to get my first 250, I have been digging almost constantly since I started and still not got much over 160 (solo digging is slow, and I'm obviously not very good at it).

With my time split between games there is no way I would be able to get back to where I was in 2-3 months - it would take more like 12 (or even more).
My friendslist would be gone - unfortunately when the server closed the vast majority of my FL had already left the game and will probably never come back, but I would miss seeing their names there.

I would definitely resubscribe whatever happens. But I might not stay long if Sixthdawn is gone.

It is wonderful to see Faa, Keiko, etc back here. I also voted "no" to the wipe. I was in Ryzom for almost 3 years and I don't want to lose what I accomplished. I still have skills to master also. I miss everything about Ryzom. It is unique among MMORPGs. I hope to see all my old friends and guildies soon.
