Change of Policies: aggro dragging, spawn camping etc...

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

What do you think about the new policies?

It's hurting the community and the image of game. We must reinstall the old rules!

a community cannot police itself effectively. its never worked. all its takes is one guild or player to break the fragile agreements made. then its just like an arms race. lets take current data.

- people have said they have no issue with pulling argo at op battles
- how many guild battles of argo being pulled will it be before the 'other side' says 'we're going to pull argo to them if X guild is fighting against us.
- that policy expands gradually, eventually everyone argo pulls at op battles

Let up on Yaffle people. He is correct in the fact that if we don't treat everyone as we wish to be treated the community will become more fragmented. Forget about what people did in the past and listen to words of sense regardless of who speaks them.

well we had a battle last night and.......... no aggro dragging that i saw everyone played nice.
maybe the community is not dying after all........

the biggest issue here will be the false declares and that unless stopped WILL tear the community apart. everyone here knows this to be true and it will eventually lead to people just ignoring the outpost aspect of the game or leaving game.

is that what u want?

Jack its not about which side does it, just that it happens. Both sides have done it so doesnt matter.

I just find it hypocritical when some people denounce it but have friends who do it and telll them they good for doing it (not you harv)

like a comment in kami chat "if they continue they will have less sleep for sure" last night after we declared a legit attack, said by a guild well known for placing multiple declares across many time zones just to annoy rather than to actually attack. I know its part of the game and I have to accept it, I just wish ppl wouldnt act all high and honourable on the forum then do the opposite in game.

its well know there is a the "problem" timezone US/EU split in this game and I think its legit to exploit this fact to actually put together a credible attack/defense. I however disagree with abusing it to just annoy. Irony is the same people have traded of making the karavan out to be evil nasty people for ages.

komissar wrote:Hey guys.

I want to address one subject that no doubt concerns us all - The new policies of OP warfare...

After a short period of turmoil GF has introduced new policies according to which:
1. no CSR has to attend an OP battle
2. Aggro dragging becomes a normal ploy (including drtagging aggro on foragers and in OP fights)
3. Spawn camping is allowed
4. False declarations on OPs (when not a single attacker shows up) are allowed.

I would ask everybody to share their views on the matter.
  • Would you accept the "new" atys with spawn camping, aggro dragging and false declares?

  • Do you think it's ok to let things like this happen and help the community roll downhill taking the game with it?

  • Do you care for the future of Ryzom?

  • Would you want to see more of your friends and guildmates leaving game?
Then please share your thoughts here...

Hi Everyone :)

Been in Ryzom for only 4 months now; but love the game.
Had plenty of OP battles, tried out PvP even.

Here's my two pence on Komissar's original post:

(My Views on the Matter)

1. Spawn Camping can and has been debated here and on every MMORPG i know of; but TBH - those that do it will get less then those that actively "hunt" for them, moving on quickly if not located where expected.
Aggro draging outside of PvP and OP battles is only a problem if malicious - to me that is defined by the peep's involved not sending a tell or region message to say sorry and at least attempting to Rez you if you died as a result.
False Declares; do not fully understand the mechanics behind OP declarations, or the Faction / Political Alliances that form their foundations; but from a tactical point of view I for one long before this post thought it a grand idea to declare on multiple OP's so the Enemy has to spread thin initially until it has be realised which OP is truly being targetted.
But if it used for (as some have suggested), to raise the thresholds to make it that much harder for legitiment attacks, that i think is a bit dirty

2. This one is a little hard to answer myself; havent been here long enough to truly say how any of this is affecting the community; but anything that causes peeps to leave in masses cant be good.

3. Damn right I care for the future of Ryzom! Dont pay 6 month sub, play 4-5 hours a day (Mon-Thurs) and another 20+ hours between Fri-Sun, cause I dont care ;)

4. I never want to see friends leave, friends are what make you stay. Every game has its faults; but it is only a game, - and its only as fun as you make it.

(New Policies)

1. The only true downside of this; is when people take it too serious, and turn their emotions into abuse; often through foul language, sometimes personal attacks - sure screenshots can be made, tickets can be submited; but with a CSR present they should be dealt with quicker, allowing everyone else to get on with having FUN :)

2. Once again, its a tactic in my view; dont think those who fought any wars had any say what the native wildlife could do to them; its part of survial skills. Though I hope anyone silly enough to dragg a Boss into an OP battle, are the same ones which whinge they cant ever fight them for mats :P

Outside of that... if your running for your life. .and you happen to go past someone... once the danger has cleared.. say sorry, and try and help rez them if they died.

3. See No.2, if you wanna use Bosses in OP and PvP, and then CAMP their spawns for hours / days - good luck to you. Meanwhile, myself and others go about our business, and if one is silly enough to be seen, we flood Guildchat with the knews, assemble, kill, and go back to whatever we were doing.... even digging solo in a region alone is more fun then camping a boss :P

4. False Declarations are probably the only thing to worry about truely... if they are really false, used intentionally, and malicously to raise and keep thresholds raised, making it so much harder for any attackers - then that is a dirty trick, if not exploit.

Attacking multiple OP's to cause confusion; to gain valuable minutes / rounds, etc in advantage on the real target - thats a war strategy - and more of this should happen!!!

Like I said.. my two pence!

Hope your all having fun on Atys - i am stuck at work :P

i wish i had an access to the kara chat, seems our "spies" are more honorable and dont perma copy/paste...
and to clarify, because you 're talking about neXus there, even if our attacks were annoying, shall i remember you that almost 1/3 of them were successful (attack phase), with at least a 20 peeps turnout, and several op wons......fake attacks just to annoy the other side ??

about my "if they continue they will have less sleep for sure"....aggro drag on me, i'll aggro drag on you ... schedule 3 attacks during the same night (00.00, 01.00, 05.00 my time) to be sure that i'll not sleep, well ...you can already auction your bed on bazaar, will be useless soon.

timezone is the problem, but should i say it's less a problem for the karavan (if wee consider kara to be more US than Euro) : our nasty hours attacks are scheduled for your early pm, when you are at work/school, your nasty hours attacks are scheduled during our sleep time. Maybe we should start declaring in our morning, you'll finally realise what is a nasty hour attack...

ps : and to clarify, i'm only talking about neXus there, not the whole kamis
ps² : and to answer the original post: against, against, against...till you dont do it to me

You think sleep time battles are worse?
If the battle is during someone's work hours, they absolutely can not attend.
If the battle is during someone's sleep hours, they can stay up and fight, or skip it. That's their choice.
Missing sleep is an option- missing work isn't.
