I'm not worried about the cap, but the critter and mat levels ought to be lowered to make the region just as challanging as the ML, that would make the trial more like the full game in giving the same experience.

I already paid just to keep the ML open to me when I get bored with the island. ^_^

Hmmmm.

Back to the topic of the OP:

I am a new player. I am still in the free trial trying to decide whether to sub or not.

I have a character on the English server that is almost lvl 30, and a sub 20 alt on the German server to get a feel for each. I was just getting to the point where I was getting the hang of the game, and about to experience what the fuller options (within the limitations available on the island) within actions might be like, when *poof* the ability to experimant was taken away because of the lvl cap and no further progress.

I can't complain, because I wasn't paying for it.

I can say that from the perspective of a new person, versus the opinions of many of the established players here, it is well and good to say "JUST PAY" and you get to really try it - but at a lvl cap of 21, there is no way I would have subbed. I thankfully had a few more lvls than the current folk did, but feel like more experimenting would have been helpful. So I'm not sure if I will go for it.

To be honest, I haven't logged in much since the change.

If their intention was to free up server usage - it worked in my case. But I don't consider myself a free-loader, just someone on a tight budget who will spend the green if I am fairly certain it is what I want, and won't if I'm not.

I hope it works well for Nevrax, but my opinion is that the way they have done it and the severe restriction they implemented will not work to their advantage in the long run.

Good luck all!

I haved stayed out of this type topic mostly because it doesn't apply to me... this restriction however is hardly "severe". Most every game has staged implementation of skills and goodies, this isn't the first. Most of the folks now saying it should be in the 30's because thats when they started to get a feel would be saying 40's if the cap was 30 IMHO.

You already stated you tried multiple characters, each able to go 84 levels in learning the game... Truly if it doesn't grab you by then it may not be the game for you. I don't necessarily agree with thier level 21 cap, but it makes sense based on other games because you "can" keep playing and learning... I think anything they have reading "unlimited" is now a joke though.

am i the only one to think that a lvl 21 cap is enough ?
i tried that game last week, the day before the patch.
made some char, play around, see how it works.
i lvled my tryker till lvl 17 and as i liked already what i saw i subscribed and went to have a look at the mainland. bit early, i agree, but at least i knew what to do by that. so i leveled a new char till 23 on silas, went back to mainland.
the day after i was invited in a guild, and i have fun everyday now.
i'm a wow refugee, and i didnt played since i started ryzom, that game, in my opinion, provide me more fun than i had with wo :)

I'm newly registered, but i've been following this game for quite some time now. (I tried the trial version before the newbie island was released...and got interested in the game back then. Couldn't subscribe because my system was outdated and I didn't see any point in starting up an acount if I couldn't play.)

I simply love this game. I love the fact that everyone is so nice to you, I love the ecology (where animals interact with eachother and the with you) and i just adore the lore (even if there is alot to take in for a new-comer).

Now, on topic. I do understand that Nevrax had to take actions on free-loaders out there and it is a difficult thing to put up restrictions to a trial. I saw the free unlimited trial a while ago and decided to go for it.To me this gave the signal of Nevrax being a company that of trust. I felt honored to be able to try out the game again. A couple of days ago I was a bit dissapointed to learn of the newly introduced lvl cap. However, dispite of what many of you have said, it didn't cause me to delete the game from my HD...on the contrary. I suscibed. I did so to show Nevrax that I feel that thier roduct is a "one of a kind" and it deserves all the support it can get.

Anyway, to bring a long rant to an end, I support the desition of putting the lvl cap at 21. I feel that it can give newbies enough time to explore what the game has to offer.

I think the island cap is working for Nevrax. I'm finally seeing more players making the leap to the mainland on Cho. So isn't it time for people to not complain anymore about the level cap? It's working, they won't change it, if you're a froob, you need to accept that you're not the primary target group of Nevrax and stop spamming the forums with useless compaints. If you pay, Nevrax and the community will care.

Ok as a new member, reached lvl21 mage and fighter in first 24hrs of play, I have to say this game is very much like what I would envision I would design. I have been through many mmo's : Hero, Knight Online, Rappelz, Silk Road,Turf Battles, Rose, Space Cowboy, Gates to Haven, Ferentus, and Priston Tale, there is a few I can't remember at this time.

IMO RYZOM is a whole different, "monster" it's huge. There are loads of features from all the games I listed plus. The overall design is well thought out esp around the customizable features. The movement could be better with click to move and screen rotation w/o click. I have seen where over population from players can go. Very bad and no1 wants that for any game. haveing a p2p helps that alot.

But i feel that about lvl30 would be a good point to get the basics but, I'm not complaining, when I can get the funds I'll be there.
