I don't particularly like or participate in RP within the game. There's very little differentiation between me OOC and me IC. I talk through my avatar as me, Josh.
That doesn't mean I like PvP.
I still want to participate in events that change the landscape of Atys. I want to build things, discover and explore new lands, etc. I just don't want to participate in PvP combat.
Damn Aylwyne, you're always a step ahead of me! Again, this is exactly what I wanted to express myself.
And that's exactly what I was hoping for when Nevrax disclosed some details just before launch of Episode 2. They still have time to fulfill the promises they made at that time. I sure hope they do

We're already two, so the minority is growing
Anybody else joining?

I'll keep it short. Quote from our forums:
"I don't like how Nevrax is handling things and basically tells us in a nice and indirect manner: this is how things will be, take it or leave it.
It's not the PvP part, I could live with the fact that there is pointless, stupid PvP in a game, if I don't need to participate. My problem is that they told us for 6 months there is good stuff coming and now they give a such horrible thing implementation and ballance vise that it's unbelivable.
My subscription will end at 13th November and unless Nevrax get their act together and will communicate in an honest way with the playerbase, I won't be renewing it.
Dunno how much I'll be online in the rest of the month, probably less than I was till now."
Nevrax lied to us, Jessica lied to us. I'm not paying liars.

Well the good ones are leaving, pretty soon the story line won't matter a damn and PvP will be all this game has to look forward to. But then nevrax might be able to steel some subs from blizzard....

So far I know of two long term players who have cancelled their sub and two more very very close to it with several more having some questions about their future with Atys and this in just in my small circle of close player freinds.
I personnally enjoyed the Battles on the first night and dont object to PvP per se but unless things are changed soon so that the PvP is more connected to the storyline of what going on rather than just an area where two groups can battle for battles sake and nothing more then i fear this number will grow.
I hope the PvP will settle down and have more connection with the objectives of the storyline but this is down to player attitude, if it doesnt i hope some changes can be implimented to constrain PvP somhow so that those who just want to kill for killings sake will be put in check.
Player kills unarmed player (no amp, weapon equipped) next to Zero "honour" points sap/stam halved for 15 minutes?
Faction Status only given above 50 fame all others nuetral and negative points if killed?
Top 20 Faction Fighters denied opposite factions TP facilities and Opposite factions town gaurds/tribes attack on sight?

There's a lot of RP opportunities when there is PvP about. You can actually 'do' RP instead of 'talk' RP for starters, and it doesn't have to involve endless player killing.
FYI: Ganking means 'meaningless' killing, so if a Karavan melee runs in and kills a Kami digger then this is not ganking, if done in the new FvF zone.

I would even go further and define MMO ganking as "killing with overwhelming odds". Meaning, a high level killing a low level, no matter how prepared. Of course, a high level killing low levels when a bunch have all teamed up on him would not be ganking -- though it might be considered zerging by the low levels. Anyway............

He hee, true, but I am assuming that entering the new zone means you are prepared.
