Well, you wouldn't appreciate it if you just started the game and the NPC on Newbie island wandered up and said...

"By the way, Atys is actually a little wild patch in a family's back garden, Kitin are ants and bugs and the Karavan are the kid's scifi action toys that have been lost in his various games in the yard."

Or whatever.

It sort of spoils the fun of discovery.

And earlier in regard to stories. Drakfot tells stories to people, I'm on about crafting interactive stories.

yes but i think raynes was refering to the fact that they didnt have to take you all way in secret to do it they could have announced the meeting of the influencial guild leaders and had the meeting in a public place to invole the community with the story incase some had missed the first 2 parts :)

there are actual valid storyline reasons why they did that...

They could have, but that is uninvolving.

As it is they have gotten the community to spread the word itself, along with the messenger's own agenda, spin and distortion. FAR more interesting and gives people more to do than just listen.

why? i was on the first 2 parts of the event so why shouldnt i have been allowed in and all the others who also took part and didnt get invited?

its not like the karavan wont read the forums and see what happend at the event anyway so why keep it so secret?

i tried to explain here: http://ryzom.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1 ... ostcount=8
in short: they did it in secret to make absolutely sure that no karavan agents could stop the message from being spread

they could have done this anywhere outside of PR without the risk of the message being stopped so that isnt a very valid reason =/ not like you cant talk when your laying on the floor dead too for some odd reason :P

Hmm....

If you see a bear, next time when you'll see one, the feeling will be less strong.
If you heard about the man who saw the bear, you will want to meet the man, and heard the story. Maybe to go there to see the bear for yourself.
If you head about the man who knows the man who saw the bear, you will start to talk with your friends about the bear, about the man, about all.

Last case will make the story and the rumors about it, to last longer than the 1-st case. Is basic crowd/rumour control, guys.

Then I got invite, hurrah!
