Yes I know that pre-order customers deserve to feel special. And maybe Nevrax led them to believe that test server access is a "privilege" for them. But this is a very bad strategy for a game company. Test servers exist to find and eliminate bugs, not just to give a privileged minority an early peak at new features.

Good testing is actual *work*, and nearly any MMO developer will tell you, it's hard to find people who will make a serious effort to test. Most players just want to glimpse the new stuff, log off and go back to their main characters.

I agree completely; people in Beta should be Besta testing. Many will, I think. But there will certainly be those who only want to see the new patches and what-not before everyone else. But I think maybe a reason they chose the pre-orders, too, might just be for the simplicity of an easily isolated group to use instead of opening up a new application and selection process... That's just a guess though.

I was buying and selling with a Vendor just earlier... a Raw Materials vendor.. She kept sneezing on me. Blech.. :-p I know, I know.. that's the not the type of vendor you're talking about :-)

Seriously.. back on the vendor topic.. After reading all the discussion, I've decided just to wait and see how it all works and am reserving judgement until then. They may well still need to further tweak it, though. They won't know until everyone starts using them.

I'm just looking forward to having an easier way to get access to certain mats that I can't seem to find myself right now... or just don't know where to look.

So you wouldnt have a problem when they push it live and then maybe a day later they disable all vendors for a few hours due to a bug. Then they take the servers down for a few more hours to fix it. The after they bring the servers back up, people lost items they actually planned to sell and the whole vendor system is disabled. After all this you would not have a problem?

While that may be an extreme possibility, it is not unlikely. Even vendor systems that had months of testing have caused major problems in other games. Every single time the "chaos" stage has been long and drawn out causing much headach to the players. If there are concerns about a major game system, they need to be voiced. Most thing like the above are caused by the devs are too close to it to be able to see the possible flaws.

How about making this go live only with mat merchants?

The rest can be delayed until it is worked out, or just wait and see if a shopping channel takes care of it.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. They obviously know there is work needing doing or they would have rushed it out by now. There are little patches going up every day so who knows what they may have planned.
I'd love to see it go live with all the ideas that have been put forth myself and I won't mind waiting a little longer to see them implemented. :)

I am having to run to a stables and cough out the mats I foraged about three times as often as I would like to. And the idea of taking that thing away from the stables ANY time soon...well that just will NOT be happening.

another little bug that might help you here.

next time you're out in the field, bring up your inventory. right click on the packer tab so it opens another window. now drag any item(mats armor w/e) from your inventory to your packer's inventory.

raynes wrote:No you don't. You can buy and sell the exact same way you do now. They aren't removing the ability to trade between players. The only thing the new system does is add an additional tab that lists what players have for sale. They are not mixed in with what the vendors are selling.

So lets say you wanted to buy some q99 choice moon resin. You could either go to a player and deal directly with them. Or you could go to a vendor and click the player sale tab, look for q99 choice moon resin and buy it there.

Ah, there you go. Another reason why the name of the seller should be listed. If you see someone who is selling spare q99 resin you may want to contact that same person to see if he can get more of it for you. It will be hard to do that if sales are anonymous.

Thread just got somewhat superfluos, too :D

http://img40.exs.cx/img40/9020/shop8.jpg

Still somewhat buggy, and a sorting option for items at the appropriate vendors would be nice (for example, that at the 2-hand melee vendor you can sort through the different 2-hand melee weapons and not through the mat types). And you can STILL not see the dodge, etc mods.
But a HUGE improvement nevertheless.

And on a related note:
When I logged in today I noticed I got a respec. (on the test server )
That is I kept my levels, but all of my spending (after initial packs) was undone, so I get to respend all 100+ SPs for each profession again. (Yay)
