This thread is another reminder of Ryzoms age. Would never be able to have done this a couple of years ago with hundred man guilds and the secrets and such. I guess it doesn't matter anymore. Everyone knows about every other guild, everyone knows all the recipes, where all the SN is , how to kill all the bosses. You know there was a time when no one had a lvl 250 :P

Generally the forum is a great source of information and is an important part of the community. An influx of polite, helpful people would only make it better.

I'd like to think that the vast majority of people could easily skip over the less pleasant nonsense, unless of course they wanted to take part...

I wish every single player would take part here. We're missing out on some wonderful conversations.
I can't but agree with you for a great part. Unfortunately, I don't have to tell you what the majority or the most popular treads here consists of. And while I appreciate the few insightful and interesting treads that pops up here on occasion, they are nevertheless few. And chances are the topics have already been discussed on our forums, in much greater detail already. Being around since beta and all :)

I logged into my alt the other days, for the first time in weeks. Circumstances had it it was in the middle of an outpost battle. Yay I thought and fired up Fraps, hoping to get some good footage. Guess what, I got reported for being untagged. So yeah I fail to see how we still got a great community spirit and a mature community in general. I'm just not impressed anymore.

That's why :)

I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope that if your intentions had been known that wouldn't have happened. I know and regret that as of right now, a few people get far too upset and serious about OP battles.

Nonetheless, our community is what WE make it. Me, and you. Things don't change overnight, so it takes time and patience. I gather that you have a love for the game, and an idea of what you want the community to be like. So, let's make it that way, and not contribute to any hopelessness of those who miss "better" times. The best is yet to come, if we but have the courage to make it so.

My perspective: I've been surviving forum/mailinglist/usenet/BBS nastiness since the 1980s, and the waters here are quite comfortable, with no undertow and only tiny storms. Regardless, I intend to leave it a better place than I found it.

note that I may be missing some because of the weird hours I play.
A kind homin helped me do a recount. PF currently has (approximately) 22 players active.
