But it will because they do make things more difficult and that increase in difficulty will be applied disproportioantely due to ill thought out faction forcing.

Hope that makes it clearer what I'm saying.

This also sounds fair :)

You see, it's all about balance, not about necessarily being the same ;)

I'll take my magical golden hat that turns PvPers into suckling yubos for my compensation :P

Grim,

I have been playing for over two years and I have never seen anything in any of the literature that talks about balance. I can not identify any sort of game mechanic that even attempts at creating any sort of server faction balance.

I am curious as to why you think the developers feel like neutrals are on equal footing with the factioned players. I just don't see it.

you obviously think just becuase you hve to start you sneaking at a portal it will be harder for you to avoid the patrols, you obviously dont know anything about digging PR and especially how it worked when they were there.

if you are digging specific spots PR is the same for everyone once you in there. bar FD you do not have to sneak through a KT patrolled area to get to a PR, once you are in the PR KT's are equal opportunity killers. if you are digging spots at the tp ofc we got an advantage

it doesnt make it harder just for neutrals it makes it harder for everyone,

I'm talking about mechanical and play experience balance, not numerical balance (though that has adversely and negatively impacted people's play experience) nor balance in terms of raw power.

From a development and player satisfaction point of view it's a bad move. From and RP POV it has never been justified or explained and the aspects that did support various forms of neutrality haven't been equally played up.

At the start we were all even, changes haven't been explained or justified and have been uneven.

How on earth can I explain this any easier without a chewable picture-book?

Here is Bob.
Bob isn't Kami.
Bob isn't Karavan.
See Bob enter the Prime Roots.
Run Bob run!
See the Kitin patrol!
Run Bob run!
Too far to run!
SPLAT!

Here is Jill.
Jill is Karavan.
See Jill teleport into the Prime Roots.
Run Jill run!
Jill doesn't have so far to run.
The Kitin Patrol do not see Jill.
Can you see Jill?
Dig Jill dig!

Bob has death penalty.
Bob has no materials.
Poor Bob.

I am too. I see nothing that supports the idea that they are looking for balance between faction and nonfactioned players. I would say mechanics push towards choosing a faction, not producing a balance between the two factions and the players who choose to stay out of the faction wars.

I can not recall a single event/release note/news item that even hints that Atys was designed with faction balance in mind.
