Tosh, Its not against the CoC to do fame missions, its not against the CoC to buy Tickets, Its not against the CoC to delcare yourself neutral. Stop using emotive language like exploiting for things that are clearly not.

Spires which are not loosley based on the orginal idea, will not really be spires now will it?

'its just a game' doesn't cut it for me I'm afraid. I've been playing or creating fantasy games since my age was in single digits and 'its just a game' has annoyed the... yubo stuffing out of me since then.

True, for some people it is, 'just a game' and I suspect many of these are the same people who casually gank, exploit, bot, try to figure out the best 'character builds' etc. People who play these things as just a game.

For others recreation comes from being more creative and an MMORPG allows that, especially now with R2. When you invest a great deal of time, effort, energy and love into a thing it is still fun, it is still recreation but to dismiss it as 'just a game' isn't right.

Its like... ripping up a sweater someone has taken a month or so to knit and dismissing their tears as 'What? It's just knitting!'.

There's these big disconnects in understanding between different playstyles, even when people claim to understand.

Currently?
Crystals, flowers, OP mats, PR bosses, some PR areas, Nexus.
One must factionalise (returning to the original point) in order to access 250 areas and the PR TPs.
Or you could have read back a bit.

Nor is it against the written rules to OP swap - see other thread about that. There's spirit and letter and there's what one deems personally acceptable.

Point being we don't know at this point, so speculation isn't that helpful.

You've allowed yourself to be defeated and ground down, that fades my hope. So I guess we're even.

Now you really are talking nonsense Jyudas. How is it an exploit to choose a faction, work HARD to get your fame up to 60 so you can get PR tickets, fill your appt and then THROW AWAY that hard work by going neutral?

Well I certainly don't consider myself to be one of those types of people. Nor do I think I have ever impacted another player's playing experience adversely. Nor do I like PvP. However, I do consider it to be "only a game" and I'm sick and tired of reading threads like this with you and the usual suspects. Give it a rest why don't you!

Mind you it's "only a forum".

IC: A betrayal of principle for a quick fix.
OOC: It isn't what's intended really is it?

Its less bad than some and not one I'd necessarily upbraid people for that much but it is a hedge-around.

Because otherwise there's no balancing voice. I'd rather occasionally look like an arse than allow nonsense and BS to go uncorrected.

Just occasionally?

I'm struggling to find many who still agree with you so go corrected your own BS. :p

Evo has had OPs materals gained by fighting NPC maurders, Zero PvP in obtaining them. How about negotiation and trade, thats not making the individual PvP.
Nope as you stated, 250 regions are more difficult to reach, but you don't need to PvP. Being factionalise is not PvPing its picking a side. They are very different.
Neun on Aris, is neutral, and has only attended 2 OP battles, earn rewards in EP2 without PvPing, I didn't like EP2 but I wasn't forced to PvP. All the content is still there the only thing you don't get to do if you don't PvP is PvP.
grimjim wrote: Nor is it against the written rules to OP swap - see other thread about that. There's spirit and letter and there's what one deems personally acceptable.
Therefore it is not an exploit, it shouldn't be called one.
grimjim wrote: Point being we don't know at this point, so speculation isn't that helpful.

They are reviewing it, but they are unlikely to change the core principles. If they remove the 'spires', the benefits and the PvP, its not really spires anymore. Thats not speculation, thats logic.
grimjim wrote: You've allowed yourself to be defeated and ground down, that fades my hope. So I guess we're even.
Nope, I did everything I wanted to do with the content provided in SoR, I am now playing Ryzom in its current form. I still fight for Ryzom as a game, but if I am honest I am happy to play with whats there, despite the failure of the company to produce anything really worth while since release.

R2 - Not for me.
OP - Half done implementation, with no long term appeal.
FvF zones - a flop
NPC bosses - all but one removed, Aen revamped, now a new revamp comming soon(tm)
Events - they have always appeared to me as a lead up to something that doesn't get implemented. My favourite of these was the comming of Jena, great build up, followed by nothing. (sorry events team, you work hard, but its how I feel)

I also tend to make my points where they belong.
