So fighting your way through massive amounts of high level Kitin and fighting multiple bosses that will probably be the toughest in the game doesn't count as work?

Interrelationships are important. You end up with valuable things to use or trade. Out and out rewards that magically come out of nowhere undermine those interrelationships.

Yes, hacking your way through the kitin lair might be a few hours work.

But, handing an uber loot item to you after you (countless?) hours of hacking through the lair, one that exceeds the current craftable items, will render the 12+ months work done by the crafters obsolete. Try leveling an armor craft skilltree to level 250 and you will know what work is :)

I do agree with you that there should be other rewards than plain materials though.

Sometimes getting good loot gear gives more of a unique item, if the kitin lair is as hard as made out the loot gear would be very rare, where as if you got a crafting plan then you could make that gear more and more, leaving it less unique.

Also the great loot gear gives something special that the regular homin cannot craft, because it is out of the ability of hominkind to create such an item.

We have already lost most bosses that drop uber loot gear (referencing to the armour drops)

Would be nice to see some new mats with uber stats for say jewls and other equipment, then new receipe items can be crafted with higher boosts, this way we have both parties happy.

This is a good point, but I am somehow worried about this. Let me start with this: I have no (or little) objection to uber dropped items as rewards as long as they are indeed "rare" and the impact on a player-based economy is controlled and reduced. There are notable problems; first, is that there is no clear definition of "rare": for example, supposedly supreme materials and equipment should be "rare" but afaik, crafters may be frowned at when suggesting excellent or lower equipment :) and second, maybe in order to keep them rare, you end up with fairness issues where the "rare" items are always in hands of a handful of hardcore/lucky/smart/... players. In other words, "rare" and specially "unique" (unique as in Aen armor intentionally was :? ) items tend to not be such after a while.

This "not-so-unique" aspect (pretty much like dappers or gold inflation) is inherent to long lasting games and MMRPGs in particular and a direct consequence of time spent, unless controlling mechanisms are set up in order to make sure there is ony a limited amount of these unique items in game at a given time - e.g. aen only spawns when a player wearing an aen armor dies -.

Moreover, things are worsened by other factors suchs the limitations of current AI where it is only a matter of time till someone figures "the best way" and it is open to camping. The perfect example are raids in other MMRPG where first efforts need a group of 200 players, and a few weeks after, raids are "known and mastered" and can be done by groups of 40 in less than half the time.

Don't tell me devs actually intended full guilds to be equipped in aen armors when they added the "unique NPC bosses".

In summary, the notion of "rare" is hard to come by and agree on. For me, a supreme q250 +3 parry HA is much rarer than an aen armor. Lixie is rarer because it was removed. And to be honest, I'm afraid of players hoarding dozens of "unique" and "rare" items in their appartments.

Finally, well, to some extent, I see an analogy between e.g. instanced quests where the same princess is rescued again and again and 40 unique armors that can be seen at a given OP battle.

Edit: edited for clarity purposes. It is sad when even the poster cannot make sense of what was posted :P

Well, you can always make it so that the special crafting plans need some special mat, also only obtained from the Kitin Lair (maybe from a different mission). In the same way as the Outpost mats that are used in crafting.

[EDIT] Forgot to mention, such mats should be difficult to get hold of and maybe only with a limited supply per season.

My post mentions mats dropped. Why such need for a new crafting plan.

Also in reply to the 'rare' 'unique' This area is supposed to be the hardest area in the game, making pr look easy. If that is true then the item would be very rare and unique. Aen was finally figured out, so then camped your right, but how long did it take? Didnt happen over night.

In my opinion, the kitin mobs should drop new mats to help create new reciepe items, maybe be an area for lvling above q250 in the future, imagine the impact of an extra 50 lvls, economy would boom again.

i cant wait to see what they come up with...

Then WHO did craft it ? :D
Okay, I guess you´re pointing at Karavan/Kami Items like in EPone.
Those would surely be cool, but as it is the Atys Rangers who´re promissing the rewards I don´t think we´ll see anything like them down there.

As Iphdrunk said, it´s always a problem with "unique" Items becomming "not so unique anymore" once their "code is cracked" so to say. ;)
But the same applies to things made out of special materiels, as seen in form of the OP Mats-Items. Once the recipe is known, there´s no holding back.

Unless someone at a Company deciedes to make it a "one time only drop and never again shall said Item be dropped anywhere", nothing will be unique in an MMO on the long run.
The only thing to be proud of is the fact that you maybe were the first to get it.
And just for a second, consider you are the one that has got this "one of a kind Item"... would you be happy with it? As sure as hell there´ll be whines and flames in forums and at your door just because it is YOU who owns said Item and not "me"(someone else).
It´ll be a cold day in hell when humans learn not to be jealous of the achivements of others, y´know. :(

I think the way Materials are used and introduced as of now is a good middleground between these extremes. For a time you can be proud of your achivement and display your Item to the envy of all, but in due time it´ll be a pretty normal sight on the streets and something new must come along. So its on us. Do we take the bait again? ;)

I know a few homins that will try and be the first in line, just to get whatever there´ll be down there. Ok, it´s their game. Just let them feel proud of their achivements. 15 minutes of fame ;)
I´m gonna wait a bit to see what it is and then decide if I realy "need it to play and have fun in this game".

Ah, and I´m for new mats to combine with new crafting plans, for maybe a new type of wapon, or clothing.
