Kamihugger? Hmm, thats a new one for me. Though, not used to hearing stuff like that from Frydes.
Anyway, Neun, i'm sad to see you go. I agree that Nevrax dcieved us, and "pretended" to not do what they are doing.
I took part in the PvP gank fest, well because everyone else is there, and i don't want to dig. I have to admit that it was entertaining. The DP is no fun, but to see guilds work together for a common cause, "kami vs karavan" to which much of the game is based... gives the fighting more meaning than the senseless PR ganking before.
On that note, I am worried. What will this do the Ryzom?
Only time can tell I guess.

I just realized there were numerous RP events since Chapter 2 started, and when a PvP event is opened up, non-PvP'ers cry foul? I'd like to know, from the non-PvP'ers -- is it that everyone's forgotten about the many RP events that have happened since launch, or is it that you want nothing for the PvP'ers whatsoever?
It's the latter, isn't it? Because a progression in that direction might, in the long run, change what type of game Ryzom is?
I'm being serious here. How many RP'ing events have happened since launch? A couple raid events, a lot of storyline events. We've all known since launch RP would be big in Ryzom. What about PvP? A couple events and some areas were opened up. We've all known since launch PvP would be big in Ryzom, just like RP.
Be a little fair, guys. Let us have our game too. A new PvP event does NOT mean the end of non-PvP events and content.

How many genuine RP events?
Uhhmmm...
I'm hard pressed to think of any actual RP events.
We've had a lot of meetings where we've been TOLD stuff, what to think and so on, precious little actual interaction except between homin AFTER the event.
So you're misrepresenting the facts IMO.

Then consider other content and events that don't involve PvP, like the couple raid engine events, rites, the zorai-fyros portal event. Think of those vs the work done on PvP, and apply that to my last post.
EDIT: Please try to understand how I feel. I played new content they gave us, had immense fun with it, no one was mean to anyone, and then my friends and our way of play was basically attacked here. We did nothing but play a video game that was given us. A lot of angry things were said.

You don't have to worry pretty soon there won't be an rper left on the server and you can have aaaaaaaallll the PvP you want.....
"I'm getting so bored with the xp grind why don't you guys give us PvP so we can grind honor points instead"

Why have that attitude? The only negativity I've seen is in the forums, and it can be tremendous.
Personally, I joined Ryzom because it was beautiful, interesting, was NOT a largely marketed game by a big company (less kiddies), and held the promise of PvP. I signed up for Ryzom intending to PvP as something to do with a high level character, rather than everquest-like content (which I also love). I'm not complaining -- just pointing out that I shouldn't be scolded for liking PvP. Ryzom was touted as a game including it.

The major mistake you are making is assuming that if you're not a PvP person, you're an RP person. These two things are in no way mutially exclusive. Far from it.
I don't particularly like or participate in RP within the game. There's very little differentiation between me OOC and me IC. I talk through my avatar as me, Josh.
That doesn't mean I like PvP.
I still want to participate in events that change the landscape of Atys. I want to build things, discover and explore new lands, etc. I just don't want to participate in PvP combat. I've gotta believe that I don't represent some tiny minority segment of players with this desire.

Thanks Lawrence. I've been waiting for a comment from Nevrax on it rather than try to get through the PVP content language barrier that seems to have appeared.

You could have not described me better.
Now about Episode 2:
Quote from Xavier in another thread:
"If really PvP isn't your cup of tea, leave it alone. We're working to make it enjoyable by the maximum number of people, as the war is a necessary part of the story, but it would be delusional to think we will succeed to make something everybody would enjoy.
The same thing could be said of every major feature that can be added to the game."
Alright, I can do that BUT what about the "We don't much like the idea of non-consensual PvP, even sideways like that" (
http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showpost.php ... stcount=49)
Did I misread that?
I wonder why all this non-consetual PvP sounds so contradictory...
I think it's cool people are having fun with all this PvP but...
Why it could have not been made consensual so those who like it and those who don't could appreciate Episode 2 equally? Some people were counting on Episode 2 as an escape to the incoming PvP-Outposts.
I wish you could make the things more clear Xavier.
