You're not looking hard enough then. Because I see a lot of storyline.

A game is something you do to have fun and relaxe, this not so any more.

With respect, that's your problem. When you aren't being handed fun, you make your own IMO.

Katriell, I think one of the key things you're missing is that a lot of the people frustrated have been with this game for a long time. Something neither you or I can really relate to is the constant disappointment some of them feel with the state of the game several months ago until now. I've only really played this game for a couple months (little bit in beta), so I don't feel some of the blues that the old timers do. Even still I feel that this game seems like a newly released one instead of one that's going on one year old.

(Before you say content is an ambiguous and non-descriptive term I mean things like: Meaningful rewards for quests/mission, dungeons, group/guild tasks, non copy pasted raids, meaningful fame system/faction rewards for PvP...My list could go on. Not saying that is absolutely what the game needs, but that is some of the 'content' I'd like to see.)

From Xaviers reply it seems as though their internal issues are pretty much worked out and that this Episode 2 business is the last of the updates from that strained time. Also what I took from it is that they are getting back to REALLY developing new/fresh ideas to improve SoR. Hopefully they are working on new stuff as we speak; taking what they've (again hopefully) heard from their games community into consideration.

Time will tell.

Katriell: Enjoy the game. It is in many parts a great game. But, depending on how fast you progress, there are some things that are not great. It is not about bored uber chars it is about promissed and urgently needed update. If you read this thread you will notice that not working TPs are mentioned. But you only will recognice this problem when one of your skills reaches a level where you really want this TPs working. Even if it takes a very hard mission to get access to them. But we dont get access and the introducion is offering a statue. Nothing aginst a statue, but a Tryker digger is only dreaming of a TP ticket to Loria. And we hope for this somehow little feature since many months, some maybe for more then a year.

Rites do work 100%
Fame does work (but is being altered somewhen upcoming).

The rite system works, what's missing is MORE rites.

What ever new things thet got, better get them ready before DnL hit the stores.


There's storyline nearly all the time and an event of some sort just about every weekend. Perhaps you're just not getting involved in it.

I really don't think we get treated like WoW players, at ALL, that's a bit of an unsupported accusation.

What's the big fuss about DnL? Just the next 'big' thing?

Yay, someone who actually says what they mean by content! :)

Rewards for quests/Missions: Standard 'missions' reward with moolah, albeit not very much moolah because the economy seems to have ballooned out in an unexpected fashion. However, regular missions do also reward with fame. I view these as 'everyday' tasks that shouldn't really be uber loot.

We have had a mission reward for the huge kitin invasion in the past, albeit one where you had to break your wrist to get it with all the clicking.

Events up until now haven't seemed to have been rewarded with anything but fun, however, the last event we attended, the birthday ball with the murder, was rewarded with 4million dappers and some kitin larvae. That's a positive step to me and it makes much more sense to reward special, one off events positively rather than repeatable missions.

Otherwise we have the rites, which also fit the context of the game far better than 'quests'. These are rites of passage, hero quests of a type that reveal special knowledge to us. The reward is the lore in the encylopaedia and the new ability or boost we get from completing it.

So, I think that's already covered and everyone should be able to, at least, do ency missions for two races, if not all four. That's quite a bit to do.

Dungeons: Dungeons don't really fit the Ryzom style or background from what I can see. At least, not yet. If we ever wander the land and find the wreckage of our old cities then perhaps exploring the ruins and VERY rarely finding the odd artefact would be justified but instanced dungeons would really take away from the living world of Atys. I think, I HOPE that you'll have to wait for R2 for such content and I still hold out hope we _won't_ get dungeons.

Group/Guild tasks would be nice but they seem to mainly be coming with outposts.

Raids - we've had a few, and they've been a bit different to cut and paste ones.

Problem with fame for PvP is its so abusable if one isn't careful, it looks like they'll be linking it to conflict areas or events, so that's not so bad.

No, this is about a game where a awful huge number of players will go to in november.
If the featurelist and the screenshots are not a total lie, then this game will also keep those players. And this for a long time. Every mmorpg out there will feel the playerloss.
This game is promissing ;) everything for everybody. If you are a hardcore PvP player or if you are 100% into RP or if you are inbetween, you will get it there. Assumed they can keep their promiseses. The chances are high, cause they allready cancelled their release in may to put 6 month more into the development.

I dont want to talk about details. Find them on the net yourself. But this game is extremely dangerous for Ryzom and a couple of other games out there. If they do not completely fail wiht their programming of controls and gameplay itself then they will own.

I'm sorry you feel that way. But I'm not sorry I disagree. I've been playing the game since november, on an almost daily basis, RL having the bad habit of interfering. Do I regret the problems still in game, the little bugs and the bigger ones ? Yes. Who wouldn't. I regret the lack of 'content' (Sorry Grim, I know you hate that word ;) ) we had during the spring clean, and the time spring cleaning took.
I regret the fact that outposts are taking so long, because many of the players in my guild got bored and moved on, and as any player seeing her friends leave, I miss them. But I don't blame Nevrax for all that. Sure they've made mistakes, but at least they've admitted them. Does that excuse them ? No, it doesn't, and yes, I expect them to do better in the coming months and years.

I guess it's a matter of what you expect in a game. I'll admit I have the fault of being 100% Socializer, and that meeting new people is part of the fun I have (especially when they try to make an impression by nuking me in PR *winks at Starrain*). And I may be crazy, but yes, I'll admit I actually like the fact that certain teleporters don't work :) .

A trip to Loria always means starting to dig with DP for me, I can't sneak around that well. But being able to run around the game and risk nothing, to dig in a q250 land with nothing else in mind than being careful of not blowing up my source does not add up to fun for me. I need to be challenged, to know that I outsmarted Fijoo this once, even if next time I might not have time to hit Invuln quick enough.

What you get out of the game is what you want to put in it. You might say that players don't influence the planet, but I disagree. Oh, sure, we can't make buildings or shape the land. But we make an atmosphere, and at the end of the evening, when you're tired and feel like resting, it's all that counts. Try playing with someone who's always complaining about this and that, and you'll find yourself warming up to his views pretty quickly. Try playing with someone cheerful and you might enjoy the evening. Even if you've been playing for 6-7 months.
