Lots of people quit 'because' of various reasons......
My personal opinion on it is the 'Dramatic' ones have been looking for a good excuss for a great send off.
Lein - I know bout the issues when a tramatic RP occurance crosses over to RL.
As it happen with the 'Almost War' just prior to my first attemp to marry Seren. At that time my RL was at rock bottom and the RP came the wrong time.
I would love to feel
sympathetic towards raynes, but I can't.
Everyday he complains about no content - but he doesn't attend the events.
The there is an event hes not invited too - and its his reason to quit!
Don't make me laugh!
I will give you a parallel Mr Raynes!
If I followed your behaviour example.
For months and months I have ask questions on this forum in a positive and constructive way. Its rare, almost no existant that I get an answer.
The some whine negative poster, asks a question and ends up in a conversions with the Exec Prod!
I personally thought 'You lucky so and so!' (replace 'so and so' with an expletive).
But it was no reason for ME to quit or be devotivated!
(My opinion is and will remain - the purpose of your 'quiting' is for effect, nothing more and nothing less .... srry but thats how I feel)

raynes wrote:4) The lack of events. No matter what excuse you come up with there has been a real lack of events by Nevrax. There was this big thing sometime ago that the gm's and guildes were give special tools to produce events, since that time there really has been no difference in the events produced. Over the past week there has been an increase in events, but ones where only certain individuals and groups have been invited. I find it disgusting that in order to make big events that include everyone, there has to be small events that include a few. Aside from the fact that it leaves out players who aren't in a guild or players that aren't one of the guilds invited, it also makes things very unfair. It demonstrates very poor planning and lack of thought for the general playerbase to have events for select guilds and players.
That's bordering on a lie. Seriously. That argument may have floated before the merge but since we've joined up with the EE server there have been a bunch of events! They've run the gamut from quasi baseball games involving pistols to intricate story archs that require multiple attendance to get the overlying plot. Also as far as I know this was the only secret meeting type of event, unless the others were just for people who could keep a secret better
Here's the posting history for Tidings:
http://www.ryzom.com/forum/search.php?searchid=69975
Notice something happened every weekend from the time of the merge and a bunch of stuff strewn randomly during the weekdays as well. Hell I think there was one week where an event occured every single day, even on the refugee islands! What more can we ask for? The event team busts their ass for us and it takes one jackass with a limited point of view to put a sour note on their accomplishments. I've actually seen the events get better first hand. I've said it before and I'll say it again there's a lot of room for improvement but at least they're working to do something for us.
I'm leaving this thread alone now. Event teams shouldn't have to waste their efforts on people like you.
Edit: Also involving a small group of people to accomplish a larger plot thread involving more people is exactly what IS needed for interactive story telling. In that way you get unique experiences that people share with others that cause excitement within the whole. I do it all the time for my events and it's a staple of the P&P roleplaying experience.

i have to dissagree on that point too raynes the only part of the event that was for a handfull of people was the part where the secret was told.....
now the storyline is that they are forming a council of the most influencial guilds in the lands (due to them taking part if the first PUBLIC parts of the event) so the private event was earnt by taking part in the public parts (by some anyway) now i was in both public parts but never got invited to the private part ok i was annoyed and felt left out but im not quitting over it
ill just not offer my hands to help when jena comes to destroy the land
unless of course she wants me to help her

I got to speak with the executive producer? Where was I when this happened? In fact at E3 I mostly talked to a guy from Themis that really didn't know much. And I got to speak to one dev only because they happened to be sitting down to work on an outpost test. The fact of the matter is that I was told the executive producer (or really anyone) didn't have time to speak with a player. They had more important things to do.
As for events, they are lack luster and no different or happen at a different pace than before those imaginary "tools" they said they got.
And to Grim...
What am I smoking? WTF are you smoking? You don't want everything at once???? It's been 10 fricken months and their has been next to squat. It's not everything at once it's next to nothing at all.
You also seem to be happy to make an excuse for them becuase it's hard to tell a story with a large number of people in a MMO. Well guess what, if they can't manage to do that, then they have no business being in the MMO buisness.

Then they're the only ones who should be here, since nobody else can even come close to attempting what they have.
Its impractical to do it on the scale required to have it constant because the cost would be prohibitive. The subscription fee would have to be around... £50 per person per month to get that amount of care.
However, what they do, do, they do well.
And no, I don't want everything at once, but the slow reveal does appear to be accelerating.

This is an exact copy&paste from the e-mail I've send to Raynes.
I know your pacience is over but MAYBE they will do something in the future. My pacience is over too, but my sub ends in november. Maybe they will do something good and you'll be sorry for leaving. Maybe not... but what you have to lose?
