If this was the case (which I HIGHLY doubt) then they could have always made the bulk of a ticket .000001 so it has no effect. So either way they could have gotten around it, either the correct way which they should be able to do, or in a round-about way.

As I understand it, it was an intended feature, and therefore there was nothing to 'catch'.

I can't help but agree with many of the opinions shared about this.
I mean I rarely complain about something being changed that seemed to be for the worse (such as the spacebar whole deal). I just learn to adapt since it's not that hard.
However, this one blows the frickin' cake. What I don't frickin' understand is that they don't mention this in the Patch Notes. Instead they give an MOTD. Why? Did they think only a few of us would "b****" and the rest would be content with the change? Why even change it when no one had a problem with it?

I can see why you'd doubt the validity of something like this but I've seen it happen many times as a software engineer. You design your object model and create different classes of items, each with a set of required attributes. Somewhere along the line, you realize that an item you had classified one way actually needs to be reclassified as it needs different attributes (stackability, in this case). Unfortunately, you also gain all of the other attributes of the new classification, for better or worse.
The choice of 0.5 is not even surprising as that seems to be pretty much the standard smallest unit of bulk up until this point. To someone that doesn't play the game regularly (which I doubt the developers do outside of an isolated test server where they tinker around), 0.5 out of a total available would seem like a non-issue.

omg.. has everyone finished crying now? had a great laugh while b@w espically the i'm gonna quit/not log posts. get a grip please, you have less room in your bag! so what... get used to it, the fact is it doesnt matter.
It's a change that affects everyone, and it changes the dynamic of the game slightly; diggers level slower, more grind mats are purchased from merchants, prices go up, dapper has more meaning. Someone tell me what exactly is wrong with that??
I thought this was supposed to be a mature community? Grow Up!! pfft

I'm trying to recall if these TP ticket changes were on ATS. Since I have so few tickets on my ATS toon, if they had put bulk on ATS tickets I probably would not have noticed.
Also I only have ticket for the TPs I frequent the most or that are in hard to reach areas. So even though digging is my main skill, for me its not really a show stopper with tickets having bulk.
This kinda reminds me of when the devs implemented jewelry wearing out in patch 36.

It is not that much about bulk for tickets. It is about how it was announced. Effective results was just opposite of that was in release notes.

Actually, it DOES hurt. Some foragers (including me) have to get to certain places where it's not safe to drag the packer along. So having as much space as we can IS important. If we had the option to move tickets we don't use as much to a packer, maybe people wouldn't hate this so much.
As for grind mats being purchased, I hear a lot of foragers saying there isn't enough grind mats to actually purchase. And many foragers already buy mats whenever they can. So adding bulk to TPs doesn't help there. Dappers will have more meaning with Outposts.
As for crying? No, we're voicing our dislike toward the bulk given to TPs.

Assuming this was actually an intentional change, they really should have mentioned it in the patch notes along with a brief reason for the change. Give people time to prepare for it by shifting around other items between bag and packer. That, in my mind, is what makes people so angry. If the communication was better, then some would be annoyed, but at least they'd know why they just nerf'ed.
Expecting the game features to never change or that all changes will be exactly as you want is unrealistic. Expecting them to communicate the changes and reasons why is not.
