There is no more question if it's metal or wood, or that it's anything more than a simple hut. The follow screenshots could not make that clearer.

Clearly made of wood, including the chimney:

Front of the hut:

The back, there are no gears or anything mechanical:

Close up of the door:

While not the same building, the wood is the same as the Min-Cho stable:

Just for fun took some close up shots of animals you will never get this close to alive without attacking.

Not dangerious, but cool looking, a Black Izam.

It sure has changed :-/ There is categorically no gap now.

However, due to my amazing skill and cunning, anyone who wants to have a peek inside the oasis may now do so:

Let me see!
Yes. It was open up until sometime around P1. There was also some nice Kitin Larvae back there for the taking. I'm not sure if it was technically within the SKO (it looked like roots to me), but that's how it showed on the map. It was accessible through a tunnel that appears to be blocked/missing now.

Now the whole area seems like just a nice place to work on levelling your DP. (apart from the access to Umbra, of course)

It's the snow texture ;)
The thing with the yellow thing on this screen, is a power generator.
The small building is just a kami bathroom. The other building is the Kami restaurant.

Yup kami burgers and dogs. The other one is a rib joint.

dazman76 wrote: BTW, screenies like that can be taken by editing your config file, for zoom setup. Just as you can set a huge maximum value for zoom, you can also set a huge value for minimum. Once you've done that, look straight forwards, and zoom zoom zoom - solid objects and other hindrances will be removed as the camera passes through them :) (try minimum at -1000 and maximum at 1000)

I guess the 'shot of the branches' is achieved with the opposite - look down, and zoom out real far - if you're in the right place you'll see the tops of the branches...
The config file is part of the Ryzom game. The game is as it is, aswell as the camera settings. These camera settings have been intended the way they are now. Editing your config files to use these for your own benefit, well that sounds more or less like hacking to me. And as far as I know, that's against the license agreement.

Since fiddling with the Config file has been known of since the first open beta, and the devs/gms have said nothing (to my knoweldge) on the subject, I am assuming that it is ok. If they didn't intend for you to mess with the game...they would have made it take a special program to read that file, but it opens in notepad.

The config file does NOT contain run speed, does NOT contain weapon, range or healing speeds. You can NOT affect your leveling ability, nor can you GREATLY improve your ability to travel.

Plus you do know that the game coding is OPEN code, don't you?

I've been in arguements in many MMO's over what the licence says you can and can't do. For example most games will try to tell you that it's against the licence to extract stuff out of the game compressed files. This is 100% incorrect. When you extract things from compressed files you are actually making a copy of the original. Since the original remains untouched in the compressed file, you are not violating anything.

As for the config files and changing the settings in them. It certainly is not against the licence of the game. In order for it to be a problem it would have to give the player an unfair advantage over other players. Nothing in the config files do that. The values setup in the config file are put that way for performance issues. When the files are created the values of each item are set to give your game optimal performance. For example if I change a certain option to a really high number it could take up to 10 minutes or more to start the game.

Too many people try to use this as a cop out when its not true. When you install a game you agree to a license and if that license says you are not allowed to extract stuff from compress files then you violate that agreement when you do extract files. There is no need to extact anything when making your back up..just back up the whole CD.

Since I have asked this question myself I can give you the official line on the matter of editing configs:

"We do not condone players editing the config files of the game and will not provide any customer service after.." blablabla
