There needs to be something new (it does not really matter what, just something!) to keep people going, else more and more players will leave. A new area to explore, a new item to craft (and maybe a difficult quest to obtain the plans), or simply a raise in level caps. Anything is better than nothing.
No, re-enabling kitin patrols and honour is not the solution. There needs to be something new.
Also, there needs to be a "vision". A plan, a concept. Some idea about what is going to happen some day. And people need to *know* that there's a vision and that something is in the works, so they don't resign.
This voices my opinion perfectly! I love the game but there needs to be a game plan and communication! And the donation button is a great idea!

Don't be silly.
No.
Probably not.
Thanks for the examples, Valda, although they encourage my suspicion that the specific questions people might have tend to be easily answered by common sense.
Disclaimer: I don't represent Winch Gate and I don't know what their plans are. As implied, I'm just putting common sense to use.
Hey Kat then why should anyone sub the game from what you said? You basically shot down everything that Fiach said. I personally would like to see new maps, more skills, and quests that matter!

Why are my questions silly and how do they reflect a lack of common sense, when your "answers" are not based on any facts available.
How are these questions silly :
1. Will they create new maps.
2. Will there be an increase of the level cap.
3. Will there be new skills to learn.
1. Most if not all MMO's release expansions and new maps.
2. Most if not all MMO's raise their level cap.
3. Most if not all MMO's implement new skillsets.
So please, in future, if you dont know, then dont answer with lies and insult genuine posters in the thread.
Agreed! I think that SW would be fools not to look into some if not all of these options because if the game stays as is it WILL fail again!

I whole heartedly agree Trixy!

There are other things that could be added, things with better longevity. Regions, skills, and "quests" are shortsighted ideas. If WG added five new regions, five new skills, and twenty quests, two weeks later everything would be status quo again. It would probably take at least 6-12 months to cook that stuff up, even in an ideal financial situation.

Farewell Ryzom.
Perhaps investment from one of the big companies (Sony, EA, etc) could have saved you - but it's unfortunately clearer and clearer that your days are numbered now.
SW, WG and so forth are sadly nothing better than what we had before, and this time we have run out of lives.
Perhaps next week we will see a brand new WinchGate website, with interviews, roadmaps, ideas, action - but I doubt it. Afterall - who's going to do it?
Even a message in the MoTD couldn't get more than 114 (at time of writing) people to respond, and over 50% of those chose "No, because I don't have confidence in your transparency or the future of Ryzom."
While some of that 54% might subscribe on a monthly (or even 3 monthly) basis, and you could argue that not everyone who would subscribe voted in the poll, it's clear that you are looking at incredibly small subscriber numbers.
Allowing for only one in 3 subscribers voting (which I tend to think is generous - anyone subscribing at this point must have a significant commitment to the game), and subtracting a quarter of the 'I don't have confidence' votes, you end up with around €20K in annual revenue. That's not enough for a single salary. You would need to assume something in the order of only one in 50 subscribers voting for there to be any hope that Ryzom will live. Does that really sound convincing? Not to me.
[As an aside, I do rather see why you haven't bothered with billing much - the amount of money you are going to generate is so small it hasn't been worth investing too much time into it]

Its great to have people like you who jump to conclusions and are so pesimistic so easily. I suppose it balances out those of us who remain optimistic and hope for a good game to come out of all this.
Really you know nothing about what you're saying, none of us do at this point really. Even if all the devs are paid $5 a week, if they all remain commited to and able to keep working on development then the game could make a come-back. It takes some monies to run a game but I think most games are severly bloated in the finacial sector. A good game doesn't nessecarily require loads and loads of cash, and if imagination and commitment isn't there it wouldn't help anyway...
And I see nothing wrong with asking if there be support for a one time cash infussion or not... seems to me you're looking for reasons to doom the game, before they've really even started..

money isn't everything. Loads of money doesn't equal a good or long lasting game, and much can be done on a small budget. (so say confucious..
)
If the devs are commited and able to keep going and the community supports them then a lot can probably be done, even with relatively small numbers.
