But you do log into the forums to post negativity after negativity.....

I guess lame excuses don't inspire confidence.
Come on Spiderweb, get your act together, lets get this game moving before the intertia is lost completely.
So a simple message about an extended test time is a "lame excuse" that generated a "mass exodus".....are you serious?

Looks like some skeptics dont miss a chance to bash Spiderweb and post negative rubbish, sarcasm, complaints and demands.....all in the name of their profound love for Ryzom of course.
Such posts are not constructive at all and they do more harm than good.

I love it when people say that, I mean, define constructive...

Suggest improvements? Tell them where they're going wrong? Create our own fun/content?

All stuff we've been doing for years... What's next? We donate our life savings?

We pay(or will be paying) them to actually _do_ something. Not to just switch the servers back on, get us to test them a while, and then close the gates n' shout: "Now hand over your cash!".

There were and still are underlying reasons why Ryzom has failed twice, we just want them fixed because yeah, actually we do love Ryzom and want to see it succeed, but, that does not = Blindly folow and praise SW no matter what.

*chants* We want change, not more of the same!

Spiderweb are just keeping the game alive for those of us that want to keep going, if you've been here a few years you know not to expect anything else, if you've just joined us, theres alot to get through that is already in the game like.

....a little bit far fetched and excessive dont you think? They didnt ask for any donations, they didnt even ask for a monthly sub yet.

Shouldnt we wait and see what they are going to do before making such groundless suppositions? Nobody will force you to sub if you wont be pleased for whatever reason.

The reasons why Ryzom went down twice are highly debatable and everyone has his/her own opinions about that.
You say you want them fixed....how do you know they are not being fixed as we speak? /shrug
I do not follow and praise SW, I am waiting patiently for them to finish doing whatever it is they are doing, and come up with more info on the games future development. Until then i'll refrain from blind judgements, pointless suppositions, and negative posts.
You claim you want to see Ryzom succeed....how exactly are all these negative posts going to help?

Kay22626 I am happy, very happy that there are people like you in this game still. Because it's people like you that keep this game alive and give it a possible future for those of us tired of the endless waiting to come back to. Never change your mind/opinion and keep Ryzom nice and warm for me...i'll brb ;P

Kodel

This is genuine, i'm not trying to be sarcastic or funny, it's just for some of us the flame has died down low and we need something decent to grasp hold of. Much respect to you and to you go's the "I told you so" when everything is back in order :)

From reading their post it is evident that their plan was to ask for a monthly sub November, first, but they was not finish with their paper work.

Spider Web have held ownership of the game for some months now, more then enough to state their agenda and who they are to the community. They have not done such things, so they have left themselves open to such attacks. Other players should not be making excuses and reasons, the owner of the game should be doing so.
kay22626 wrote: The reasons why Ryzom went down twice are highly debatable and everyone has his/her own opinions about that.
The reason why Ryzom has failed twice is evident, it was not profitable. The reasons why it was not profitable can be debated, but the evidence points to low subscription rates.

We do not know if Spider Web has a plan to make Ryzom a profitable game or not. That is the major issue of this thread is we do not know anything.
kay22626 wrote: I do not follow and praise SW, I am waiting patiently for them to finish doing whatever it is they are doing, and come up with more info on the games future development.
What infomation has been released about the game so far? While besides the fact that the servers are back up and running, and that they was planning on the billing system to be up and running last week.
kay22626 wrote: You claim you want to see Ryzom succeed....how exactly are all these negative posts going to help?
I am by far not a fan of Jayce (do not take it personally), but i do not see any of his posts being negative. He is asking questions that need to be asked; questions that we deserve answers to. As soon as people in the community have a better perspective of Spider Web, the sooner the game will start to thrive. People that are currently sitting on the fence will jump down and get into the game. People that have friends that are currently looking for a new game to play, will suggest ryzom, knowing that it has a future.

Bottom line is, Spider Web needs to start acting like a owner of a MMO. They need to learn that they can not do everything behind the curtains. They need to learn to share their ideas and plans. They need to learn that they have to get the community involved on the key issues. They have to learn that running a MMO is not a dictatorship.

Ryzom has not been profitable -- otherwise, we wouldn't be banking on owner #3 to pull us along. This means that something is fundamentally wrong with the game, whether it's the appeal of atypical character progression, plethory of bugs, lack of marketing, or some combination thereof. At this point, it seems that all we can offer toward the future of Ryzom is our subscription, so consider this: would a company have more incentive to develop the game with infinitely satisfied customers or those that voice their worries and might not be back to pay the next month? I don't consider this "negative" at all; I consider it the testamonial of a continually disappointed customer.

A nice trip back in time reminds us of a similar situation:

Personally, I don't want to be led along and left behind again. I can only hope there won't be a "told you so" when Spiderweb becomes another Gameforge.

I only noticed one or two from that thread, that are still here today.

On another note, i been thinking about what horrible acts Game Forge did while they owned Ryzom. My mind comes to a blank really. I remember them updating the client to make it easier to download. I remember them fixing some of the bugs (and created some new ones). I remember them having a development team and plan that was shared with the community. I remember them coming and asking for people to test the patches before they were released.

The only horror that i can think of is that the lore came to a little bit of a stand still. Around their end, there was a couple of events, and that old lady/man (do not remember the exact name or lore, to be honest). I understand why they was not working on the lore from the start of their ownership. The game seriously needed some overhauls, and things finished (one can state ryzom never reached a completed state).

The other thing that Game Forge could be blamed for in my eyes is being financial savvy. They seen the big red numbers, and had enough. They cut their ties as quick as they forged, while Nervax acted like the mother it was, and held on to it festering child to the end.

The truth is that I always try to be fair and showing some degree of respect. My aim is to either help or to be constructive. Those who know me, especially in game, can probably attest to this

yes i can attest to that :)

(none of the below is aimed at anyone specific, just everyone (including me) in general)

none of our posts are explicitly negative (maybe here and there a short one), but many posts do have a hint of negativity in them like "i wont be returning till these probs are fixed" as an example, instead of being positive and being like "i wont be returning till these probs are fixed, but i'll help on the development of NeL or organize some events to get ppl's attention off of the probs a bit."

SW is secretive yes, but they've only had zom for 3 months and a bit more and do only have limited resources. games take quite a while to develop.
SW isnt GF nor are they fully nevrax, we should at least give em a shot, maybe they'll be the saviours of atys this time (3rd time lucky hey).

as for questions, yes there are many questions, ask away! we need answers! but again, maybe this lack of communication will disappear once everything is in order again? or maybe it wont? the only thing we can do is give a chance.

devs make the game but the community is what makes you want to play it, and it's up to every1 to pitch in here and there where we can help even if you arent playing ryzom full time anymore, maybe just logging once a year any little help one can give can go along way.

all hope on atys aint lost until the fat matis sings ;)

[/positive]

EDIT: dont anyone dare go make a fat matis toon, i'll come shoot you :p
