Hi Guys,

Dam I haven't posted on here for aaages! I must say that I'm very keen to see that Ryzom could well be back on track.

Interesting points raised here, personally I'd be easy either way, a grind is a grind at the end of the day, and what makes the game is the community and not the 250 titles..

I'd probably slightly lean towards a server wipe, harsh it may be for those with 250s' etc, but it would put everyone on a level playing field, and as the game has gone through a lot it may well just need a fresh start. Also this would be good for any newcommer as joining a game where most people are already in the endgame content doesn't seem appealing to me :S

It might also be good to re-open ari, yet also make a "fresh" server for those that want a fresh start, like a second Cho

We can debate about this all day (well why not, not a lot else to do till the servers come up :P ) but at the end of the day, who cares, the server will be up, we'll all be there, so lets just pppppppppplay!

umm, what Jack said really...
Though hopefully this is all null and void anyways, "they" have a "recent" forum version, they should have recent toons too. If not, well "they" need a slap for not getting them from GF.

Whats stupid thread #3 gunna be Final? "Who's up for rolling back to patch one?" :P

My time as Eris is special not because of 2 masters but because of the life I created with her. I can't imagine not being her. I haven't played since beta and don't know or understand as much as older players do but I do know starting everyone all over won't make it fresh and new for me much less the older players. I still have at least 3 backups of flags and I know some players have no need for flags anymore because they know Atys as well as their own neighborhood. Master crafters have recipes stored. One can't really re-discover something they know that well.

As far as leveling the playing field and having everyone work together...Older players will always have the advantage of having played before. People are still going to have the same play styles and the same set of friends. The alliances will still be the same, people will hold the same grudges, and there will be the same drama. Nothing will change except everyone will be small and maybe a few a tad happier with how a toon looks.

If the data is corrupt that's one thing but a wipe just to wipe is insane.

Most of this point has been argued against before. But the endgame - the endgame is not having x number of masters. That's the wonderful thing about Ryzom; there is no endgame - it will keep going, growing and evolving indefinitely. :)

My fun times were levelling up. It's a lot quicker at the start which means moving to new spots rapidly, racking up the skill points, wearing new armour. There's a sense of achievement each day.

With cats and a lot of knowledge in the community this will be even quicker. The level 50-150 outposts will actually be useful for the bunch of noobs we will become.

The beauty of Ryzom for me is the discovery and part of this comes with being stronger. To go back now with my 250'd character would remove some of the sense of danger.

That said, I would like to finish the melee branches, PR digging and HA crafting :) I wouldn't be in any rush to dig and craft again with a new char.

Some other options:

1) New server.

2) Option to restart char with some sort of cosmetic medal or bonus stat. So we keep the char name, appearance, possesions but lose all skills. Like a respec without getting the skills back. Some titles would probably be enough incentive for this although a minor % increase in some stat would be nice. Ideally we could restart individual 250 branches instead of everything being reset.

3) Portal to a 250-500 world. This could be the same world we currently have but with everything boosted by 250 levels or just a flag we switch like the pvp flag. Call it another dimension of Atys. Our level 250 skills would be equivalent to level 0 but could then go up to 500. Back in 'regular' mode/dimension the skills are capped to 250. Could be a way of powerlevelling to 250 but there are solutions to that such as only giving xp for skills 250+.

See, the way I see it, we had a level playing field as it was. :) Our casual players had 1 (almost) master and pretty good gear while our powerplayers had 10 masters and super awesome gear. Shortly after a wipe, our powerplayers would quickly have 1 or 2 masters and pretty good gear, while our casual players would still be around level 150 with choice gear. That's a much less level playing field.

Its nothing to do with that. I Should be the biggest ambassador to argue against a wipe if we were going by masters or achievement. I dont have anything to prove, this isnt a personal crusade. In those terms I have finished this game. Why would I want to do all 19 combat masters again?Again i would have more to lose personally with a wipe, with the Kami faction dominating when the server closed. Im looking past my personal preference to better the future of the game.

I cant see the advantage to those newer players that started in the months leading up to the server close, there wouldnt be much consolation for them.

But are we better off starting fresh with a potential push in new subs or going with an unwiped server to accomodate them?

*edit this isnt the thread to argue the legitimacy of using an alt to gain levels, but I will say that only those that have since started using them know how dificult it is to grind with both simultaneously.

Oh, Kami were dominating. Well then, definitely can't have a server wipe then!

^^ nice one.

Well final m8... what can I say. I can rly understand your situation, you´ve spended years of hardcore lvling and you´ve reached all your goals.. nothin to loose. But i think a lots of player (me included) dont want to destroy all their work and their heart they put in their toon. Personally I think I would´nt start a new toon after a server wipe and a lot´s of ppls too.
