Erm... distressing?
Re: Erm... distressing?
We are also a bit more on edge then normal because we are at the start of the relationship with GameForge as owners of Ryzom and Jolt is a group that has earned our trust.ajsuk wrote: Edit: I was one of the first people saying things are going to change and we should give you a chance but your not being open with us.
Re: Erm... distressing?
Good to know that at least. You said your hoping to keep all the volinteer CSRs and to rebuild the events team, are you going to build those around a core GameForge team? Are you aiming/hoping for the same coverage of Customer Support and responce times to problems? Also for events are you aiming to keep the same level of events going with the new team or is it too early without the rebuilding of the team to say? I understand that further developments might mean your aims for those change but even just knowing what you'd like to do would be nice.Phelan wrote:It is a matter of time... i cant answer all the questions.

Re: Erm... distressing?
I agree it is sad to see Jolt go, and their customer service is second to none.
However it is not that long ago that this game was in administration and the community was worried it would not be able to continue.
I didnt trust Neverask and remember a lot of broken promises both on the website, and also face to face (Jessica Mulligan). I dont log in anymore because there is little point until things change and the game develops.
Gameforge seem to be coming in to make a success of the game and apart from the Jolt issue everything else ive seen is positive. I hope they continue with more patches, fixing more stuff and give me a reason to come back. I certainly think having an active company running things is an improvement.

Re: Erm... distressing?
I love one thing: at least, GF says that some things has to be maintained confidential. It's their politic, and they say so. A good point. Also, they say that it'll be exceptional; let's hope so.
I understand very good that politic about being confidential in some issues. What bohters me a lot is trying to maintain an apparently openness, and then make some things in secret (Nevrax do so several times), so, IMHO, that's a good way to go.
The part about say something and don't do it is wonderful. Let's hope so. And, btw, I agree with check the eco system of EVE. Is one of the best I've ever see.
I'm also happy from the structural changes in the system. Any change that makes the game cheaper without quit funcionality is a good change. Sorry for Jolt, they work was suberb, and their staff was the best; but things changes, and I care more abut the game than about Jolt. Nothing personal there.
The only remarkable issue here is that GF have a very high mark to match in this area.
Phelan, I was doing some tracert yesterday... the point is that my ISP (I'm in Spain) have direct connection to the UK nodes, and now I have more indirect route, with two or three more hops, or so (And, btw, my route doesn't go by london now ). But, anyway, I have a very good ping, 200-250ms is more than enough. And, I put it only anecdotically, don't have any importance; but thanks for the question.

Can you confirm the rumour that Jolt's contract runs out on Jan 31, or is that confidential too?Phelan wrote:It is a matter of time... i cant answer all the questions.

Can you answer this question: why was the server move confidential?
Only reason I can see for keeping a server move confidential is you are planning to royally stitch someone up.
You have to appreciate that a lot of us have lost friends over this and we are understandablu upset and angry. All we get in response to some very valid questions is "sorry that's confidential". Why can't you tell us what your plans are for the CSR? What could you possibly be planning that is so confidential? Or is it more a case you don't want us to get even more upset?
There are many people on this forum crying out for some information to ease or confirm their fears. So far you have just fobbed us off and you are making things worse!
Really isn't the way to go about earning out trust.

Re: Erm... distressing?
That is the type of terms in the past Jolt negotiated with me personally.ajsuk wrote:Most of the CSR are volunteers anyway so it can't cost that much, or are they a package deal only with the hosting?
It related to a mod they hosted, but it seems they like you to have all your eggs in their basket, all or none, they don't seem to like to partition their services.
So, extrapolating, that could be the terms, I don't know, but that's how they negotiated with me anyhow.

Re: Erm... distressing?
I don't wanna be devil's advocate here, but there are several reasons for make a server moving from an outgoing hosting to the new hosting in secret and almost by surprise. In fact, is far better so it so.philu wrote: Only reason I can see for keeping a server move confidential is you are planning to royally stitch someone up.
It makes harder that some person of the outgoing staff, being angry, makes some bad move in the data or servers.
Years ago, I have to spend a whole nigth watching over (Being me phisically there, staring at the server lol) a server with critical data because we have to move the next day and we don't be sure about the outgoing staff. That kind of things must not happen, but it happens anyway. And is good be caregul with that.
I don't say that this be their motivation, neither it is good, but I see more reasons for a nija-movement in this issues.
I have in mind a number of reasons for that. Maybe they are contacting some of the will-be-former CSR to hire them, or maybe they are contacting privately the volunteers to know how they can re-make the team.philu wrote:

Again, I don't say that is good or bad, only that *could* be good reasons... wait a see. If the reasons are good, then good. I there aren't, we can yell and go if necessary.
Only *my* oppinion.

Re: Erm... distressing?
Hello,
I am from Aniro server. I would ask to Phelan if there will be something to ask players suggestions in the gameplay/roleplay (like bugzilla or ATS before its death).
I always hear that gameforge dont know enough the game yet, so i suggest that it listen to the players or some players (the old ones).
Bye and sorry for my english
