The servers cant be merged, or one cast away, its to late, to harmful to do it now, i think our dear game must have them both.

Sorry, I'm new to the community and haven't read the whole thread. But why would Cho have been started if there were no demand for a new english/international server according to the devs?

Nevrax, the original owner, was in a bit of financial trouble and wanted to look better off than they were. A lot of good it did them, and now we have two servers in need of populating. I can't say about Cho, but all the activity on Arispotle Silan looks good. I hope the situation over there looks up so we don't have to worry about another server merge. :) The whole creation of Cho seemed like a step backward on Nevrax's part, as we had two English-speaking servers in the past that were merged because of low population on one (both?) of them... sound familiar? :p

Hi all, (cue spooky music as another thread has been resurrected from the dead lol , silly silly forum necromancers, when will you EVER learn :p )

I'm currently still busy adventuring with Beefy of the Elementals of Atys still on Cho. He is on often and willing to group/trek/help just about anyone that is needing it if and when i can break him away from smashing those silly yubos into paste (it DOES make a delightfully meaty cracker spread though :p ).

His skills or whereabouts are...Heal 245....2hmace melee 215..2hmace craft up to lvl 130 so far fyros only....other skills ranging from 50-150 if anyone wants to group, feel free to /tell or PM him. If anyone wants to try their hand at 2hmace combat (smashing RULES!!), Beefy sells his maces pretty cheap, but he'd probably throw one of his grind maces in your general direction if you'd ask nicely I suppose ;) .

Beefy still enjoys trekking regularly, both for adventure, as well as excercise. Heart disease is the 2nd most prevalent form of death on atys behind gingo attacks outside of pyr. He is always looking forward to helping others see the sites of atys, as well as meeting new friends. He's usually more able to do this during the PM hours USA time, so if your on European or other sorts of schedules, weekends are probably a better bet.
--------------------------
As far as the servers, I love cho and i enjoy most of my time ingame. It's the only place in any game i've found where i've not had to put up with whining, drama, or even having to mute anyone ingame (so far, but i'll get you yet mysterious /tell sender :p ) .

As far as server health/size, who can say, i have no clue if theres actually more people now, or if they're just more ACTIVE people now. Others may disagree, but i see quite a few more people on Cho now than i did when i started playing in late oct/early nov. I'm glad to hear that Aris is seeing similar success, whats good for one is good for both, and good for ryzom as a whole.

When i started i'd usually see maybe 2-3 diggers in dyron, now its hard to find a time when there's less than 6-8 or so floating around town (yea that might be far less than aris, but its a big increase for a new server that was started a month before accounts were closed, and especially for a game of our size.) Also, the jungle and forest regions specifically were completely void of players or activity, now you can at least go there and see people in town going about their buisness at most times of the day. Of course i'd love to see MORE people on both servers, but an improvement is an improvement.

As far as server merges, heck I hope that a year from now they announce a 3rd english server lol, or other language that calls for it. I mean this as to say i hope there's enough new customers for this of course, and not just random shards opened for the heck of it. More people means more money, for the game to see more updates, more staff for development (art, programmers ect...), and all around more of the CHANGE that people have been calling for far longer than i've been here, there just needs to be more capital brought in than they have now by the game to continue to progress past whats already there (although i am happy to see 2 patches in under 2 weeks, thats at least a step in a BETTER direction than we were all facing a few months back).

We can't really control how much exposure this game gets other than our own word of mouth, and the polls/website lists that we've also been on that we've helped the game out with. One thing however we sure as heck can do something about is give those new to atys a taste of what we've enjoyed ourselves already, and HOPEFULLY try to keep them here for more than the first month hopefully in doing so. As this was my original intention when opening this thread, i'm glad to see others post their info here, whether anyone reads it or not its always a good sign to me anyways to see more people willing to help than not.

Looking back at this thread a few months post-mortum, I'd like to think that both servers are better off than they were when i started playing and discovered poor Beefy stuck on the island trying to find out where the heck to dig for dung resin at (who the heck would pick DUNG resin as their primary resin anyhow....theres so many other wonderful kinds that dont involve..well..DUNG... ). The only thing i'd probably change is the name of this thread, i think "Help save Ryzom!!" would be a much better name now than the current one. I've since discovered that there's plenty of "shiny happy people" who enthusiastically support ryzom and share Beefy's as well as my own enthusiasm for helping those that are new or otherwise "gaming-challenged". As far as i'm concerned thats far higher quality "end-game" content than 40 raid bosses with their oh-so-shiny armors of uber leetness drops or a lvl 300 lvl cap that i'd fill up in a few weeks anyway . Then again, thats just me, I AM the guy that spends far too much time corresponding with a large, jolly, blue, liguistically-challenged space alien after all :o .

- how many new subscribers joined cho?

- how many oldtimers that went to cho burned themselfs out of the powergrind?

- why do we have cho?

- did new subscribers really dislike arispotle?

i dunno if these questions are answered earlier, cause i dont have time to read all old threads.

I can't answer the question of exactly how many new players exist on Cho, but the majority of people in my own guild seem to be new to the game rather than transplants from Aris at this point in time.

I am definitely an oldtimer. I have not burned myself out on Cho nor am I powergrinding.

I don't know how new subscribers feel about Arispotle vs. Cho. All I know is that I was in need of a change when Cho came along. Despite trying to make several alts on Arispotle, I found that I couldn't really start over. I wanted somewhere that the politics were not already determined. I didn't want to hear about the KA and the Kami anymore. I wanted to step back and to remember what it was that drew me into Ryzom intially (long before the Cults were implemented).

There is a very good chance that had Cho not come along I would've stopped playing already...not because I don't love the experience I've had in Ryzom. Simply put, I was done with my main avatar. (And I was here long before cats so I did every single level I have other than some of PR forage the hard way).

Cho may not make sense to everyone, but for some of us it's our "fresh start"...our reminder of what we love about Ryzom. I'm not really sure why people on Arispotle are so upset about it's existence. Do you think you've lost something due to Cho being open?

slay13 wrote:Hi all,

I am one of the few new paying subscribers to have slipped through the cracks before the announcements regarding Ryzom and it's future. I play a male Zoraii named "Beefy" on Cho and am a member of the Elementals of Atys, and have found as many others have when they started, that it is exremely empty on our server at present and is very hard to do much of anything with the exception of digging/crafting, and even then its hard to find anyone to sell what you craft to.

While my guild has helped me out immensly in filling this population void (i probably would have stopped playing outright without them), it is still extremely hard for me to find groups without extreme downtime during most times that i regularly play. I also know that there are others far less fortunate than I am that have had even an harder time starting out or continuing play on Cho, and that is the reason that i have started this thread.

I think that it's important that those that have chosen to stick it out on Cho through this transition stick together, yet it is often extremely hard to find those that have interests similar to yours to group/play/dig with. I think it would be nice if those willing to help would post their ingame names and what their interests are, as well as how they could help others who are having difficulties ingame.

Character name: Beefy

Skills: 175 heal, 115 2hmace.

How i play: I enjoy xp grinding atm, but would like to explore crafting in the near future when i can finally make up my mind as to what i actually WANT to craft ;P

Advice: Join a guild, friends list as many people as possible. My guild is currently recruiting and are also available for any help needed, feel free to visit our site or post on our forums http://www.elementals-of-atys.com/

Divine Indignation is a new guild formed by Zandriok, check out his thread here http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26562 . He is extremely friendly ingame and has a great passion for the game as well as starting a guild, but is also have a hard time finding members.

Defenders of Kami is also recruiting. I dont know them personally but they look like a great guild for new players also. Heres a thread to them.... http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26240

Help i can offer: I usually hang out in either the desert, or the jungle, but am willing to group anywhere. If anyone needs help with trekking to new towns or getting TP's/respawns feel free to msg me ingame or friends me as im often on.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and hope to hear from some new friends in game soon.

Great post beefy and a personal thank you for the patience with the 6 hours long trek we had together with our Guild friends. I had a great time seeing new lands and dieing a few times.
Cho is I think starting to become a community.
Hangin there.

Just came across your thread slay13, love what your trying to do. You know me, I'm up for a hunt anytime (although I do reserve the right to call a halt when I start doing face plants in the keyboard). If anyone needs help, and I can provide it, just give me a tell in game. I will note that things have improved since this thread was started, with more players on Cho, and notably more North American players, so its not quite so lonely anymore. :)

I just created a player on Cho, and must say it quite bluntly. It was dead. Silan was dead. I saw one or two other players there. That somehow kills off the opportunity to gather new players to the server. On Arispotle Silan is a thriving community were a player can make a living out of a little hunting and digging and get really into teaming and crafting while getting the skills and a small amount of dappers to survive the first meeting with the mainlands. (On Silan dappers are a valid method of trading). On Arispotle I have one player at ML and one on Silan. I must admit that the one Im playing the most with is the one still on Silan, even if Im pushing above level 50 in most of my crafting.

My best guess is that some of the new players may at first acctually have tried Cho, but seen the same as me. No one else is there, why should I?, and jumped on the Arispotle bandwagon. Even if some of the quests are possible to do solo, there are some of them you really need to take in teams. (Still possible solo, but the grinding to get to those levels in order to survive is very big).

Still I will try to at least make one fairly highlevel Silandweller there, just so I can step in sometimes and help newcomers. Maybe it could help if others did the same. Its not much playing that are needed, but if one made a char and just played a few times a week, it could be possible to make Cho as inviting as Arispotle. At least on Silan.

I know Caylin at least has done that and changes over to help people out with the missions there if they need it.
