Well yes i did insist and wow AO you can play a game for free thats as old as the hills not to mention how many froobs pay ? Not to mention I tried it found it dated and boring the community full of the kind of people a totally free trial attracts.
I'm not stating that they shouldn't have capped it, or restricted it in some way or another, but as it sits, 21 doesn't give much of a feel for the game, maybe the blame there could be laid on the massive amounts of XP from the tutorial missions, am unsure.
I already stated on another post that perhaps a slightly higher cap or a time restriction activaited after a certain level might work, but then again lets look at it this way :
- Neither of us has any experience running a major mmorpg or the company behind it.
- We don't have the companies figures and demographic information infront of us to analyse.
- I didnt study business at uni or college, assuming you didn't either.
- Consistantly for years despite a tiny development team the company has managed to achieve consistant very high ratings and respect, do you think they achieve this through making ill informed or bad decisions ?
As above, maybe the solution to both parts would be to remove the massive XP reward from the tutorial missions. That would solve both the issue of the cap being reach too soon, and make it more representative of what players could expect from mainland missions.
As I have previously stated in other posts, I am well aware of the one option open to me, and I won't take it, at least not on a month to month basis. if it was offered for 3/6/12 months I would gladly go that route.
Your confusing me here, your saying you refuse to pay for one month to test the game ? you'd rather pay for 3/4/12 months in one go and risk not liking the game ???
I tried paybycash last year, from the time I put in for the subscription to the time it was actually activated was approximately 2 weeks, by this time, I had swung back to playing my other game more frequently and the 1 month subscription was barely used. 5 days before it was to run out, I got an e-mail informing that it was time to go through the process again. I let the account go as even if I had been playing, this still would have left the account locked for over a week.
To clear things up a bit, I am currently posting from that account that has been reactivated, but I also have a Trial account which I have been trying to get access to a method of payment other than paybycash to activate a subscription on.
For some people (like myself) it isn't a matter of not having the funds, or not wanting to part with the funds, it is a matter of not having a credit or even debit card, and not willing to deal with paybycash on a month to month basis.
Righty its because you've a bad credit rating, is that the ryzom communities or development team's fault ?
You know what your statements here prove, that you are not that willing not capable at all of paying for ryzom, so then I wonder why are you upset that the trial is being shortened. Elementary my dear watson ?
I'll tell you this, I don't have a credit or debit card its a hangover I haven't bothered to fix from my uni days and I think HSBC have some kind of contract hit on me, I don't trust pay by cash either. You know to know how I managed to pay.
I went up to one of my friends (really I have at least one in real life ) and said "Chris you've a debit card don't you ?, Can you do me a really big favour and pay for a mmorpg online for me if I give you the cash in advance".
And lo my problem was solved.
And one last thing you know what I love about the ryzom community is ? You get out what you put in basicly, your complaining some of us are monsters for saying the level cap isn't such a bad thing just because we can pay. Well I'm sorry that doesn't make us bad people at all. And perhaps you'd get a better response if your complaint wasn't mainly based on the fact that its because you can't pay because of your own fault. Nothing to do with your years of experience in business or the mmorpg sector and your intuitive knowlege despite not being able to see all of the companies financial or demographic date etc allows you to know that this is a serious mistake. Or the fact that the game survived on a much worsh trial and island system before and will survive this I'm sure.
That and you'e a MASSIVE chip on your shoulder and you think the only reason no one wants to agree with you is that you are new and people like that irk me more than you will ever understand.
