. im not a rocket scientist by the way i just have a different opinion then you have.
So as I understand it, no one should have any objections to your having fun despite any harm which comes to them as a result of it. Sex is the most fun thing I can think of. Sex between two consenting partners, or "players" if you will, that is. I don't think many would argue that non-consensual sex isn't fun for at least one of the parties. So if a person doesn't want to have sex with you, it's their problem ? If a person does want to particpate with you in PvP it's their problem ?
Ganking is too soft a word. When a player is bent over, defenseless with a pick in hand, and gets attacked from behind a better description would be rape. A bit over the top perhaps but a "wake up" here is required.
Do the math....neither side can afford to win this argument.
Invest in a few tp's and travel the regions doing a "/who" and look how many peeps are playing. Then multiply that number by whatever you think is the ratio of subscriptions to the amount of players are logegd in at any given time. Let's for the sake of argument, say there are 1,000 subscriptions to the english server.....that's an income of $14k a month. With applogies to the European folks, I will use US dollar calcs.
At US minimum wage of $5.85 (IIRC) an hour and a 21% charge for taxes and benefits, that's $6,200 alone.....enough to hire 2.5 GM's to be on at any given time, assuming you couild hire one for US Minimum wage. Then there's financial collection costs, office staff, tech staff, servers, maintenance, rent, telephone, electricty, HVAC.....and so on.
Clearly, the future financial viability of the english server is questionable. If we lose half because they don't want PvP and its forced on them, then the situation gets more grim. If we lose half because they want PvP and its not available, then the situation gets more grim.
The only way to keep both sides happy is to allow them to choose whether or not they want to participate in PvP. Whether by indiviual or by Guild, peeps should have the option of participating or "consenting" and Nevrax should supply the option as has been previously discussed.
Now to get back on topic.....IN THE ABSENCE OF SUCH AN OPTION, perhaps the best thing to do is start two threads:
1. I want to participate in PvP.
2. I do not want to praticipate in PvP.
Let each guild, (or individual if they want to go against the guild choice), so state in the appropriate thread which option they wnat to play under. Let each guild, as is the subject of this thread, also state whether or not they will honor these positions. It will be a measure of each guilds / individual's honor and character whether they do honor them. I congratulate Infinity for their new stance, and for any guild to which this style of play appeals, I hope you wind up with a nice list of
"feel free to whomp us / me in PR cause if we see your guild symbol in PR we gonna whomp you" guilds and players. However, it is also my hope that those players who have expressed their desire to not participate that you honor their oreference and not cahse them from the game. If we lose players, we all face the possibility of not playing the game after much longer.
