Hmm,

seems like their best bet will to be to leave the mods totally open, but none of the xp, equipement or DP being carried back to the main world.

If a mod is well like enough and balanced well enough then the nevrax team can bring it over and make it a part of the the core world. But only after it has been approved.

Just hope that the timeline for this is not anther "outposts" style timeline...

If this comes alive it will be, like we say in german, "a hammer" :D

I had and have some concerns about exploiding like having secure hunt spots and aggro free HQ matspots. But to be true, i don care atm and i wont care in future.

If someone is happy to be a 250 elemental mage out of an exploided area then its fine with me. Same goes with mats. Those ppl will soon be bored and leave. And again i wont care. Probably the matspots are like the know stanzas. If you plant supreme, you must place a timer brick... we ll see.

All others will publish wounderful and exiting areas. Cause they like and play the game now and will do so in future. Same is in Quake or Wolfenstein. There are cool maps and there are dumb exploided maps. Guess on what maps you meet the good players ?

I dont think, no i hope, there will be no moddeling and no custom sound. First such is always an opening for bugs, second i dont want the feeling get broken by silly and sensless stuff. This would destroy the beauty of Ryzom we all love so much.
And i dont want to enter an area where i can not hear the wind and the waves of the lake, but Marilyn Manson. (Nothing aginst this music, but not on Atys).

I think the tool will offer all existing we have on Atys (Everything is allready on your harddrive) and will allow us to form the terrain, plant plants, make waterholes or lakes, buildings, NPCs, Mobs and spawns and so on. After the outposts, there will be some stuff to build spezial things like the bridges in Fyros.

I dont think there will be any programming possible, but something like the known macro editor. Just with a lot more posibilities and interaction between entities in the game. (do this -> that happenes)

I am still curious at this phrase:
Develop your maps in real time.
What? Do you like, walk around, point, and up pop a tree?

Heh.

Anyhow, I really wish we will get some videos or screenshots of what the tools will look like, and more info about the pricing for hosting. Not sure if I like the paying part :P We are paying a sub for the actual game, creating content, and also have to pay a hosting fee? I really hope they have some sort of 30 days try out free hosting thingee, for each map.

And I would love to see them to not just allow for mobs, mats, and maps creation, but also new item creations and unique stanza creation (pending approval ofcourse) that can be taken back to the main "official" Atys for usage. This way modders can provide real reward to players on their maps, and not just a story experience.

Realtime is editing within a 3D view. In earlier days one had to develop in a wireframe environment. To check how it looks you had to load it with the game. This was very timeconsuming. You never where sure if a tree is really on the ground at a hillside. Was always like edit-check-edit-check. In a realtime 3D view you just grab the tree and move it down a little. Or you grab the ground and move it up a little ;)

Ryzom is just the test bed.

I just don't get this!

They promised an annoucement, we get an announcement - people complain that its not a product available now.

They are going to GIVE for FREE a tool that if you CHOOSE to use and create something with, they will charge a SMALL fee for hosting it on THEIR servers, which will make YOUR maps available to players YOU choose and allow YOU to play god there!

And some of you say this is a rip-off!

(This is an expanison in additon to SoR-Ryzom, delevoped by a dedicated team, not involved in the SOR-Ryzom team)

I really thought that I was a grumpy and miserable so and so atm .... but some people just have me amazed.

I bet you think that Pot Noodles take too long to cook and instant coffee is not instant cas you have to boil a kettle!
