If I'm harvesting, etc, in the roots in a PvP zone I know full well that homins can come along and kill me. Does that mean I should just go "ho ho ho, aren't you the funny one!" pretend it never happened and continue until the next time the imbecile is bored and decides to gank me? No, I will respond pro-actively! I will organise homins who can take care of the problem at hand and do so. Such are the consequences one faces when playing in the roots, as you have so rightly said. I don't want to blacklist people, just homins. This is a role-playing game, they are roleplaying a killer, I'm calling in a posse to round him up

Is that not basicly what I said. Althought i never said anything bout being the 'funny one" or whatever. I mean come on PVP and rounding up a posse for the hunt afterwords come hand in hand. If you dig in the roots in a PVP zone you may wanna have some peeps on standby just in case.

I dig in PVP zones. If someone killed me. I would 4 sure call my boys down for the hunt. All I am saying is dont go crying that it is a problem with the person casue he killed you in a PVP zone. Get your boys and fight back.

Invul melee aura and magic aura are there for a reason.....so you dont get spooked.

The general consensus was that, unless there was a compelling role-player reason for the act, it was bad form. Perhaps the feeling here is different...although I thought you all were the "civilized lot". At the very least it seems to me that sneeking up on someone if just cowardly. If you want to Pk someone at least have the guts to show yourself and spout some nefarious dribble first. Otherwise, it seems me you're just a ganker. Where's the sport in that?

As I'm sure most here have, I've played mmo's that were open PvP, and those that aren't. I personally NOW prefer to play those mmo's where I have a choice as to whether or not I want to PvP. And I would also agree that, if I am entering into a PvP open zone, and I decide to stay there, I am "signing on" for the ride. Meaning, if a death occurs, so be it.

That being said, however, PvP and Pk'ing are very different things. Although I, personally, no longer enjoy open PvP, I DO enjoy some rp PvP, and enjoy playing with those who also enjoy it. I do NOT, however, and don't think I will ever, enjoy playing with PK'ers and gankers. This probably stems from the fact that I am older than the average mmo player nowadays, and I don't get a kick out of randomly ruining someone's day, just to make mine a little brighter. I tend to hope for the better side of human (homin) nature, and am constantly amazed at the sociological propensity of the human animal for both great good, and great evil.

One of the selling points of this game, for me, is the fact that one has the choice of whether or not to participate in PvP. I will be VERY disappointed if this game heads the direction that almost every other mmo is headed at the moment, and turns it's main focus to GvG and PvP. There are enough of those cookie cutter games out on the market already, and frankly, I don't think that it WOULD make this game better. And, sorry to say it, Saviour, but your response on this post does indeed reek of the pk/ganker. I hate saying that, since I don't know you personally, but it does.

Now, in Saviour's defense: it WAS a pvp area. You are aptly warned when entering it, and everyone knows what may happen while there. The system makes sure of it, by TELLING you it can happen, when you ENTER the zone. Enter at your own risk. I, also, agree that, if a murderer (pk/ganker) is running loose, BRING the posse down on his head, and bring the thunder to him. He EXPECTS it, trust me. He will REVEL in it, as should you. That is a part of the game, in that area. I support having the arenas, and the pvp zones, as that leaves the rest of the zones open to us, those who DON'T enjoy open pvp. Yes, the best mats in the game are found in those open pvp areas. The best mats SHOULD be the most difficult to obtain. If they weren't, everyone would have them by the bucketloads (worse than some already do :) ), and they would be worthless, as would the items made from them. Risk is what it's all about at the higher levels. Keeps the blood pumping.

So, all in all, I'd have to say I'm for BOTH sides of this one issue. No, I don't like what Saviour did, and it would make me angry, too. I'd call down the thunder on his head for it. But that's the game. Me, personally, if I come to kill someone, I let them know I'm coming, and they are fully prepared for my arrival. More fun for me. But I cannot expect others to play the same, only be pleasantly surprised when they do. :)

Just my two cents worth. Let the flames descend upon my head, now. :)

Unfortunately digging in PR is a dangerous one. Being PK'ed is the risk you take to extract mats that all can use, and the best mats aside from boss. Your anger is justified if you want to kill him back, but he had every right to kill you, digging supreme mats might have caused him to kill you because maybe he wants no other guild to get supreme? I know he digs/gets harvested sup mats so it could be true. But no one's stopping you from revenge. Some might dislike Savior and will stand by your side, Some may stand by Savior because he was allowed to kill you.
None of you did anything wrong by posting in forum or PK'ing.

I don't think anyone here has said pvp in a pvp zone is against the rules. The complaint is with the cowardly means it was carried out. You want pvp fine...but be a man about it! Call out a challenge "Anyone harvesting in this zone is fair game!" Those who don't want to play can leave or at least prepare.

Show yourself... fight the good fight...don't be a ganker!

PS those that don't want pvp won't join your little party...they'll leave and this game is already on life support.

You wouldn't really tolerate murder IRL.

OK, so in the game its just an inconvenience, but its still bloody rude.

React as you would to a murderer.

I played MUDs long ago, started on some PK ones, where it was just an inconvenience and a small loss of time to die. In a hostile environment with all kinds of politics, and killing off other player's leveling alts etc, it happened to me once in weeks of leveling up. But I also now feel about killing in these games like you might in doom, or a 2 player console game. I laugh with the other player when I'm killed or kill.

I'm not trying to argue, just saying that with players feeling like that out there, I have some advice. It will only annoy you if you let it :) I think a great way to feel ok about it and feel ok about digging in the roots is to assume it will happen one or two times at most in your Ryzom career, and that it will just be an inconvenience when it does. Don't wait for it to happen, cause it probably won't anyway, but when it does know that you just have to run back that one time and that's it :)

All in all, I don't think taking it to the boards is a good thing. Forums breed drama. My first guild was torn apart on the forums for what was only a couple incidents and some posturing, and I thought it was cruel. I'm glad things aren't that bad now :) Flora, I read your second post and thought it was cool, I'm just commenting like anyone else would in a forum :P

That is nice, mainly since, AS I SEE IT, this is a side based conflict. I am sure you know that confrontation has been happening for various months, so a extra death or not is not the issue here. The issue here is trying to make a public attempt to turn the servers population to one of the sides.

So calling it murder is just dumb. What is happening is "war", so just the people who don't know the why's and becauses of such actions know. As i see it, it goes around it comes around... and you surely don't want me, who has been involved in a small part of this fight, to give a full description of what happened over time, DO YOU jimmy? (not that i have all that info, lol)

So pls, STOP trying to say this is wrong or right > the ones involved have had plenty experiences with eachothers to justify what happened im sure...

But Ilthor, there was no war involved here. There is no war yet. Yes there are tensions on either side but there is no war as yet. If I had to say I was choosing a side in the arguement, I couldn't. I don't know their history. But when it comes to a homin being cut down in the roots with no warning, well, I take exception to that. Yes the "extra death" is not the issue. It was the manner in which it occurred. Even if we were in a war, it's obvious that this was nothing to do with a major conflict. That makes it a murder. If there had been some kind of ongoing spat between these two where each had been killed by the other before, then of course the circumstances are altered in our perspectives. But this was a gank.

And I don't like gankers.

Me neither glipe, but when there is tension it has to come out somewhere > simple law of nature. About ganking, there is (in this game) worst things than this kind of gank, like agro mob pulling (that gives dp) or harassment or even the dreadfull camping. In this game the worst that can happen with a gank is more time lost, while the ones above bring DP, wasted time, etc... So, from one perspective the killing is a easy way. I'm sure if i was to go around pr (which i don't) i would act that way too, for believe me there are worst things than dead with no dp i guarantee > but i wont go there as its a burried issue.

bottom line (and thinking what the game is) > PR is a pvp area, and just because you are foraging doesnt make you imune (or the devs would have put that ingame - or tried to hehe), and it doesnt make you moraly untouchable. besides, I am sure that the ones invloved in this situation have the met the requirements for unbridled confrontation, which are simply having been agaisnt each other in one too many occasions.

P.S. - gank per definition is when someone has NO chance of doing anything (i remember stuff like coming out portal and being dead right away in another game), but this is not the case > why? : 1- radar; 2- not phisically unable to do anything
