An H-bomb is a three-stage weapon: fission, fusion, and then fission again. The first stage, called the "trigger" (the black ball at the top), is a small plutonium bomb similar to the one dropped on Nagasaki in 1945. The energy release at this stage is mainly due to nuclear fission -- because the atoms of plutonium are split. Tritium is often added to the centre of the plutonium core to "boost" the fission explosion with some additional fusion energy. Boosted or not, however, the only importance of this first-stage explosion is to irradiate and heat the material in the central column to 100 million degrees celsius so that a much more powerful fusion reaction can be started there.

The second stage explosion is due to nuclear fusion in the central column. The main fusion reaction involves concentrated deuterium and tritium (both heavy isotopes of hydrogen) -- which become spontaneously available when neutrons from the first stage explosion bombard a solid material called "lithium deuteride" located in the central column. When this hydrogen-rich mix is heated to 100 million degrees, the deuterium and tritium atoms "fuse" together, releasing enormous amounts of energy. This is the "H" or "thermonuclear" part of the bomb.

Then comes the third stage. The fusion reaction gives off an incredible burst of extremely powerful neutrons -- so powerful that they can split or "fission" atoms of uranium-238 (called "depleted uranium") -- which is impossible at lower energy levels. This third stage more than doubles the power of the explosion, and produces most of the radioactive fallout from the weapon.

Unlike fission bombs, which rely only on nuclear fission, and which can achieve explosions equivalent to thousands of tons of TNT ("kilotons"), the power of an H-bomb or thermonuclear weapon has no practical limit -- it can be made as powerful as you want, by adding more deuterium/tritium to the second stage. Most H-bombs are measured in "megatons" (equivalent to the explosive power of MILLIONS of tons of TNT -- hundreds of times, or even a thousand times more powerful than a fission bomb).

Also i have been getting complaints about my guild grouping with yours that your members dont answer res call's this reputation is slowly passing on to my guild i'm doing all i can to teach my members the play nice play fair rules please be my guest to aggitate matters i will just step down from leadership role and kill toad for good for gods sake this is a game i play this games to escape from the real world and i do not wish to cause hurt to other players as i find everyone helpful and kind except my dealings with dcp . clan omnis are lovely and there are nice people in dcp just will you stop making others the Culprits it takes two to tango Catfud we were both in the wrong ALL I ASKED YOU WAS COULD YOU PLEASE WAIT that is all but you continued being rude to me and my members , i watched you kill 4 dune stalkers which is what some of the missions ask for , but you continued killing every spawn .do what you will make my name bad i don't care because you only Catfud don't follow these rules my origional post

Is this a reference to having cake and eating it?

I don't think this thread is a pointless thread. I'm especially interested in Catfuds responses. I personally conclude that the reality of the situation is one of 2 things.

1) Things have got blown out of proportion and people are up in arms over nothing, particularly towards DCP as similar misunderstandings have happened in the past.

2) Catfud and certain (unknown and un-named) others in DCP enjoy antagonising people in game and wouldn't mind people warring with them.

Now, taking into account other incidents I would say that both are reasonable possibilities. Personally, I don't care which is closer to the truth but I would like to ask some questions that may or may not get things closer to a truth (not the truth, but a close approximation.).

Catfud: Do you feel that anything you said could have been taken as rude or antagonistic? Why do you think these issues only seem to arise against your guild?

I am one of the people that wasn't there and yes I do have something to say. A jury isn't made up of witnesses but impartial citizens. I have only met Catfud briefly and I don't know the others involved. Just what has been written here and elsewhere, by both opposing parties. I'm not on anyone's side, or against anyone.

Sanz.
