I do not like PVP. But that is cause I am to busy looking at the flowers

But as long as it is in certain areas and I don't have to be involved ok for the people that like it.

I don't like the thought of the PR area. After all it is hard enough to get through there with the animals.

It would probably work fine if it wasn't for the people who just want to kill or irritate other people. Some I am not saying all, some people just don't use the brains they have. They go in to the mode, I can do it so I am going to do it.

Already have some people that try to force the issue of a duel. You say no and they keep on bugging you. You will have those with that mentality. I know in Beta when they had the open pvp. I hated standing there and then was dead when I didn't know even what happened. Wasn't to bad when they would rez you and say sorry about that, but you had people who just ran around killing and leaving you there. That was not funny. They thought it was but that was their mentality. That is what I am afraid of.

We had one occasion with some one invisible who thought it was just a barrel of laughs to keep killing you every time you got rezed, until someone managed to kill her. Wow then did that change. It wasn't any fun anymore.

But that is what I fear most.

Sorry I am rambling this morning.

going to reiterate what I said in Kient last nightm then I am done with the subject.

Zeeii, after filtering out the I will quit if any PvP is implemented and I will gank you every chance I get responses <thankfully few>, as I mentioned last night on Klient, I can see what the uproar is about now.

I can see in a game which is heavily based upon crafting, harvesting and positive social interaction among races to defend against the kitin that there is a real concern about PR being a full time open PvP area.

Yes, there will always be one or two people who derive their joy from making other peoples' day miserable. But they do it now by burst training mobs upon unsuspecting harvesters. How is it any different?

My own personal experience with PvP ranges from UO and Eq throught DAOC, Shadowbane and AO. I know there are ways of dealing with gankers, and where cooperation is applied, groups can go about their business in fair safety.

Then it occurred to me as I was harvesting last night where the real problem is. Most harvesters are like the old west prospectors, they don't mind chatting it up a bit, but they don't want anyone else jumping their claim. I mean, harvesting is generally a solo event, at best a team of two. Under those conditions it's hard to mix in a large group of aggro mobs and safeguard these pioneers, spread out over a large area against random pk attacks on top of everything else. Plus you need the people willing to do the guard duty.

Considering that harvesters actually are the prime <pun again> users of the Prime roots, an area that is really just to dangerous to hang around in unless you got business there or are godlike, I can't really justify any argument to make it a full time open pvp area. Saying that, I recognize your arguments apply in no way to factional or guild vs guild action in other areas of the game.

Having said that, I have nothing more to contribute until we get a thread going that IS focused on outpost factional pvp and guild vs guild events.

cheers

If this poll is accurate at current count of 80 people stating if it goes open PvP in the roots, that they will quit, that is a total of a loss of:

$1196 (estimated) a month
That being around $14k a year loss of income.

Not including the loss when patch 1 was released, I don't know the numbers that quit the game there.

Looking at that number, that is maybe, 1/4 what a french employee makes maybe, so, its not anything to justify them going on with there plan to open PvP in the roots.

The lack of activity in the arena itself should show that PvP by its current definition as to how its going to be in the roots, is not something people want, regardless.

The test server will hopefully become more stable in the next few days and further testing can be done to see how it will be implamented.

I don't know, but it seems that if it upsets the majority of player base, why put effort into further development of it?

I know if I did that, I would be fired.

Posted by jdiegel in another thread :

"Simple solution for Vic issues. Don't allow him in any escort parties and we won't see him in the roots for months. "

xcomvic didnt refute anything when I accused him of being a ganker and a newbie killer. He is on the mainland since november 24, he wont be able to make it to the prime roots solo for a while.

On an other note, i started another thread about PvP to try and find a good easily implemented solution to please everyone.

Most players seems to agree that having the choice of being immune to PvP would be a very good solution. We should make sure the devs are aware of that.

probably since his post was both off topic and durogitory in nature, not to mention just plain rude

celest is all for freedom of speach, but when it starts to become mindless flame without purpose and very colorful in nature, its nixed.

For those of us that have worked to improve our Prime Root Forage skill, this patch will go over exactly the same as it would for Matis players learning that all of Matis land (and only Matis land) will be open PvP. You can expect us (Prime Roots harvesters) to react the same way as anyone would whose gameplay has been singled out for extinction.

There are plenty of areas where people don't go to harvest that they could use for open PvP.

Do you know the term: SPOINK?

Well then... SPOINK you all.

And back to topic... I am all for Matis being all PvP... Also, what does it matter how long I have been on Mainland... I bet I am pretty damn high in level right now and going faster and faster everyday... this game is really really easy to lvl in... I hope to see you trosky in a PvP area :) Oh what name do you go by in game? I did share with you mine... I mean I am not sacred... unlike yourself...
In response to the ignorant players out there:

I have more heart than anyone would know :) I will let you in on a little secret... I am doing this for my newborn daughter... no one else... I like that game, but I do not have the time anymore. My first priority is to my daughter. End of story.
